I have a Dell Trinitron perfect flat monitor that seems to have a problem with dark text on white backgrounds. Everything else is fine, but if it is on a white background it appears blurry.

I have an Asus AX800 Pro video card using the latest ATi driver kit.

Does anyone know what might be causing this? Would a screenshot help?

Try these things:
Adjust convergence
Lower brightness
Adjust contrast

Some monitors also have screwdriver-adjustable focus controls.
 
I lowered the contrast and brightness and that seems to have really helped. Thank you very much. You're a genius.
 
Yeah on my 22" CRT i also have to reduce contrast for text to be sharp, brightness doesn't seem to make much of a diff though.
