My neighbor has a 17in Dell CRT (No I didn't feel like turning it around to get the model, but I suppose I could), and the picture is very blurry. It's not a Win issue as it looks the same in BIOS and on the displayed monitor controls. I've played around with all of the settings and what not, and I the only way I can decrease the blurriness is to notch the contrast WAY down to about 3-12 range. Obviously that's not the best solution as you can't read all that well at that setting.

I've tried recalling to factory settings and played with various color settings. Another monitor looks normal. Anyone have any ideas? Is it just going bad?


 
Only way to adjust focus besides the OSD buttons, is to open the cover and adjust the inner focus knobs usually found back left behind the tube. I dont recommend this if you dont really know what you are doing == DEATH WARNING !
Get a new monitor, because 17 CRT must be crap anyways.
 
Yeah, it's not mine, and they really can't afford to replace it. I think I'll hit up a few folks who owe me and see if they can give a good deal to them. Yeah, I'm not sure how to discharge capacitors, and I don't really feel like learning, so I stay out of the innards of CRT's! Thanks.
