Block Level Dedupe for WSS?

Ive been messing around with SIS on WSS08R2 and while it does work well, its not block level so it only helps so much.

I was wondering if there are cheap or free opensource dedupe software for windows based SAN out there?

I realized i could run ZFS and use it as a SAN, but i really like my WSS box, but it would be even better if i get some sort of dedupe software without paying an arm and a leg for it.

BTW this is for my hyper-v lab at home.
 
StarWind Software has de-duplication as part of their targe for Windows Server. It's the only Windows based iSCSI target with de-dupe I know so far. They call de-dupe experimental feature for now so good news - they don't charge for this version at least yet and bad news - it's still experimental :) But if you're on the black side of the force :) doing non-production thing I don't think it should be a problem for you.

I've compared both ZFS and StarWind implementation and can say on the very small blocks StarWind is faster. But as they don't do anything except 512 byte and 4KB at the time ZFS can scale up to 512KB AFAIK their memory requirements are HUGE :( If they are not going to low down this memory pig appetites I don't think they have any future :)
