Bleeding for idots: What do I do?

I am in the process of setting up my new water cooling system now, but I'm having a great deal of trouble bleeding the system, there seems to be alot of air in there! I've read the posts and love 'em but I must be an idiot or something. Any suggestions? btw my pump is loud and I think it's becasue of air bubbles that are frothing in my res

Run it for a split second then kill it until the air has turend into bigger bubbles, then run it for a split second then kill it. Keep doing this until the bubbles have migrated into the res.
 
I think I got that far, but the bubbles in the rez are preventing me from filling it all the way, therefore making a gurgle sound, which I did not expect; it might be just the reality of watercooling. I was quieter on air.

This dosen't sound right. You WANT to get the bubbles in your loop into your res, as that is where the air can escape the water. At least that has been my experience.

And yes, your pump will quite down some once your done bleeding the loop.
 
I'm sorry my explanations suck, I'm on my wife's m700 and my fingers are too fat to endure too much typing. I don't have any vortices or bubbles in my lines, but my res is only filled up to like maybe 1/8th" off the top; not a problem unless it's on, and it froths so much that I can't fill it up further. When the pump is off, it seems like I am violating some sort of displacement law. Maybe my head isn't straight, but I would figure that I could fill up the res to ultimate capacity then there wouldn't be such bubbling noises. I don't know. I didn't get a kit becasuse I wanted to get good, handpicked stuff, but I bet I could have used the instructions. Everything else appears to be fine, though.
 
Can you get to the fill hole on the res with the PC running? If you can the fire up the pump, tilt the PC away from the fill hole then top the res up as full as you possibly can.
 
I cant speak for your pump or res since I run an eheim pump and a innovatek tank-o-matik..well im on a full copper "clone" right now..
anyways Ive always filled my system and ran the pump and added water to the res till more or less no more could fit.
then id just let it run for a bit while tipping and tilting the computer from side to side...worked great :) after about 2 days no more air.
 
now matter how hard of a time this gives you dont think yourself an idiot, i had a hell of a time bleeding my exos yesterday
 
do you have that dangerden 5.25" Bay Reservoir?
If so, its the res....It so loud...I used it with a D5 pump, when my waterchill xtreme pump died...It was loud as hell...All i hear is swooooshhhhhhhh and gurgle gurgle....I know it wasnt the pump...It was the water moving inside the res, and i had it filled all the way and no bubbles....im so glad i got my asetek pump back from rma...Its dead silent :)
Only way to make it quiet that i saw was to tilt the ressy upwards. I believe the problem is that they made the filhole too deep thus not letting you fill the ressy to the top
 
As I said tilt the PC up in the front and angle it up on the side the fill hole is on, the bubbles will run to the uphill side. Pull the plug and top the res off. The idea is to get every last bit of the air out you can possibly get.

I've tried this to my best ability to no avail. I'll try again. Thanks. That said, the scariest part of the day was when I uncapped my proccessor. I'm sure that a bit of sac will help fix this one, if I'm not fresh out.
 
Hahaha, the title sounds a lot worse than it is. I would've thought anyone would be able to figure out how to bleed. :p

 
thats why you should use a T-Line Fillport instead of a res :D

 
You might try tilting it so that that fill port is the highest part of the tank and then turn the system on for a few seconds. Put a towel around the resevior so that any water that splashes out will be captured. You want to get those air bubles out of there. Or just take some fluid out so that the bubbles can't bang around. The problem (not really a problem, but a cause) is that you have a high flow pump and the water comes into the resevior with great force. I only filled my BigWater kits resevior like 3/4 the way. But the 1/4" pump doesn't flow that much so there is barely any disturbance in the water surface. I also sat the resevoir on end, so the water comes in and has to go up like 4" to hit the air at the top...which it can't.

Though the T-line method could be adapted to your resevoir. You could make a bypass line across your resevoirs input/output so that some of the water pressure will flow by your resevoir. It would still provide excess water for the system and still act as a holding area, but less would go through it.

Basically what I'm saying is that you would connect a T to both the input and output of the resevoir, and then "short" them inbetween so that water can flow both through the T and the resevoir at the same time.

BTW, my setup had some residual air bubbles, especially in the pump. After probably 50 hours worth of run-time they went away for the most part. The pump was pretty loud at first, sounded like a fizzing soda from the air bubbles trapped inside. Now it just has the faint buzzing sound from the motor.
 
What order do you have your components in? Are you sure you haven't mixed up the inlet and outlet of the pump?

Poor pump, sitting there running nearly dry for so long :(
 
I just put together my first WC kit the other day. With the 5.25" res I had to pull it out the front and tip the fill end way up with one hand while filling it with the other. It resulted in zero gurgle. I would say the water is about 1/8" from the top of the reservoir when it's off.
 
I think I got it pretty good now. It still gurgles a bit, but I'll live, considering I'm 111F on total load overclocked to 2640mhz. I never knew how kickass wc was, I haven't even touched the video card...I'm idling at like 90. I'm going to go as far as I can with oc'ing, then I'll eliminate the gurgle.
