BIOS mods?

I'm absolutely new to overclocking, but I decided to try it. However, I don't think my motherboard will allow it. I have an AMD Athlon 2600+, using an Asus A7V8X-MX motherboard. While my BIOS lists the multiplier and FSB, I cannot edit them.

Is there a workaround this, like some sort of modded BIOS? Or perhaps there's a program that can do it? I'm really quite new. Perhaps I should just get a better motherboard next time :p

Edit: my BIOS is Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG

Go to Asus's website and check out their forums...they'll probably have links and threads that discuss this very topic...far more in-depth too.
