I've got a stripped down Compaq Presario V2000 Notebook PC and for some reason the BIOS doesn't detect my Hard Drive as an IDE device, yet WIndows XP still installs and boots up. What could cause this problem and is it likely to affect the operation of the computer later on? 
Until now, I've never had a BIOS unable to detect a drive, yet still able to operate it.
