i installed a qx9650 today and having an issue with the temp. temps are normal on all cores except the 2nd one. in core temp (0.95.4) they are : 22,41,19,20. bios reports cpu temp as 41, and so does speed fan. the asus probe software also shows 41 for cpu temp. i have not seen the 41 change at all. even when i run prime, the 41 remains constant. the other cores fluctuate normally. does anyone have any idea why this would happen?

Faulty diode? There's no way that's the correct temperature if it never changes. But if all three of the working cores are withing reasonable temps, I see no reason to worry about the fritzy one.

I'd be sending it back if I just dropped $1K on a CPU. No question. Especially if you're planning on doing any type of heavy OCing.

ok well i did some reading around and its a motherboard issue.. others with the same motherboard are having issue with incorrectly reported temperatures as well. hopefully itll be fixed in the next bios. im just relieved its not the cpu.
