Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Should I switch to big WU? Is there any bonus in this (Other than more points per WU)? Right now I have everything set up to defaults with teh exception of Machine ID (I am running 3 MP machines with a 4th otw) but want to maximize usage (and quit getting these 24 pointers on my X2
no you can't pick your WU, but if you do go for Big WUs then you will get larger point values per WU. It will also require more resources (RAM), however.
Well I have at least a gig on all my SMP boxes and at leats 512 everywhere else right now so that shouldn't be a problem (as I only really use one of teh machines)
Yes you can select the type of units you would like (step 7) but this does not guarantee that you'll get big WU's. Stanford seems to be taking an active approach the memory issue by not sending them out unless you have the appropriate amount of RAM dedicated to the client (5.04 beta client). A gig would be the minimum suggested to run them, and even then you might run into issues with memory bandwidth and such.
Just a few things to keep in mind. Now if you really want to live dangerously, run big WU's and -advmethods, on P4 boxen this will normally garner you the QMD's which run about 400-450 PPD on my 3.6.
For the love of all small furry animals, switch to big WU's!!!!!
Kidding... they tax the system more, give you a points bonus. Don't run the -adv flag on systems which are not yours. If it's not your system, don't run large WU's. IE borgs run normals in my opinion.
All of teh above listed machines are mine (not borgs) so I have no problem with switching them to big WU if that is more productive (and not just point wise)
Stanford tends to assign large point values not only to those WU that take a long time to crunch and/or use a large amount of resources... but also to the WUs that they want back quickly...
