Big ooooops, fdisked wrong hard drive!

ok i was in a rush to get my laptop going and I tossed the hard drive into my main computer. I wasn't paying attention and i deleted my fat 32 and my linux partitions from my main drive, THE WRONG ONE! So I've lost a lot of crap I had on there. I backed up a while ago and was actually thinking of it the other day too. But I still lost a lot of stuff.

i know there's got to be programs out there to get my data back. I only formatted, I didn't write 0's to the drive.

Is there a program that can get back my linux and windows 2000 fat 32 partitions? If not then i at least want to get my important data back. I'm not being a cheapie so I will pay for it only if there is a demo which will prove that it works. Thank you
 
That's why you label your drive partitions, so even in DOS you know which partition your dealing with.

Software is out there, but it's never 100% certain to work.
 
i fdisked the wrong drive once too... i found programs that could get files back if i typed in their complete paths and names.. needless to say... i went fuck it and formatted the drive... i guess it happens to everyone sometime.. i lost a lot of stuff.. but i managed to live without it...

this was a good 4 years ago though.. maybe there are better / more available programs out there..

see the above thread on getting data back from an ntfs partiton. this software Get Data Back should do the trick if you havent written over the data. there is a free trial download.. go check it out and if it works, i'd buy a copy so you have it for the future-The_Nerd
 
i did the same thing when i first switched to ntfs.. kicked to dos.. format c:\.. opps ntfs drives dont show up...

lost a damn good mp3 collection.
 
Did this the other day. I have 6 HDs in my system, selected the wrong one in Linux, and nukes a 120GB parition.

There went 120GB of linux isos*

PowerQuest made or makes a program called Lost & Found. If it isn't made anymore drop me a PEM and I will see what I can do to get you a copy.
