Why is the BFG version of the GF 6800gt 256mb costs almost $140 more than a eVGA version of the same card? Just because the BFG version is overclocked??? its worth $140 more? when i can get the eVGA at stock speeds and overclock the card myself saving me $140 would be more rational right? Or am i missing something that the BFG has that the eVGA version of the card doesn't?!

Its called Supply and Demand, BFG is more sought after for the stock o/c and well known reputation.

While eVGA does not make a bad card, its just BFG is more popular. If you go your local B&M shop though you will see its the same price there.

Both the evga and bfg gt's are around $400, give or take a few dollars depending on where your buying them from. Who's selling the bfg for $140 more? It's probably miss priced.

Looks like Newegg has a mis price.
I bought my GT from Chumbo, and my Ultra from Outpost.

While I dont think it is worth 90 dollars extra you are kinda of comparing apples to oranges since they are two different stores.

I think the BFG comes with a lifetime warranty while the eVGA does not? That is worth the extra $$

thanks sm8000, bestbuy it is! i never thought of looking there i thought it would be way overpriced there...thanks! but it is sold out :( hopefully won't be in november

Newegg the new rip off place. There prices are not that competitive anymore.

Bought mine from BB for 399. (I mean $200 with the gift cards).

mikey, it might be sold out on the best buy page, but enter your zip code and youll see what stores have it near you. i just got my bfg last week from a best buy that is two minutes from my house.

The newegg x800 XR PE's are high priced but they're all with killer bundles, but they're deffinetly not as good as they used to be

$470 (same freakin card just OCed)

XtremeGear.com

$380 (opps its $90 less than the BFG but still does the BFG name worth extra $90?)

What do you guys think?

Are you purposely trying to inflate the price? The BFG 6800GT OC is $409 from the same place you linked the other card, extremegear. Quoting prices from two different vendors isnt smart when trying to compare prices.

Both are $400 MSRP, each shop can charge however much they want for them. It doesnt mean BFG is ripping anyone off.

Newegg's prices are bizarre. They have some stuff at awesome prices, and some stuff is a gigantic ripoff. Bottom line: shop around, and you can get the BFG for the same as the eVGA.

just ordered a dvd burner... last week this same burner was 72.00 then went down to 65 then when I bought it got it on a one day sale for 50.00 go figure. Think it depends on how much of a item theyre selling... I bought a Antec case for 62.00 next day it was 70.00 strange. Even more strange I was going to get a new round cable for this new burner... cost of cable.. 4.00 cost of shipping 6.00? no it was 3.50 for the cable and 4.50 I think for the shipping... didnt buy the cable thought it too wierd the shipping was more than the item I was buying.

newegg overcharges for cards. The MSPR is the same for all 6800GTs. Look around for a better deal. You can get 6800GTs for less than MSRP now.

This is the cheapest i could find the BFG GF 6800GT 256mb OC'ed - $402 which is a nicer price than newegg's... and i think for $20 more its worth buying the BFG over the eVGA. Eventhough im not planning to upgrade videocard until November soo i hope within next month price will go down a bit more.

they have a horrible reseller rating. id rather go with newegg for pure peice of mind

edit: ah, someone has already covered this. good.

All the 6800 GT's retail for the same price, it's just that some people seem to think the BFG is a trillion times better than any of the other brands because of its slightly higher clock speed and its lifetime warranty. Since everyone has been buying this one retailers got the bright idea to gouge the hell out of these people. So far it's been working.

The factory oc is a "review gimmick". They know that most people don't read every word of text in reviews and most people just skim the graphs for results and see BFG's slightly ahead of other cards at "stock" speeds. The lifetime warranty is not a gimmick however and could be useful in the future..

I just gor my BFG from BB for 399.00 dont know what you are talking about...

you think i should invest on a gf 6800gt or go for ati..... i don't play doom3 much but i will be playing tons of half-life2 and i was wondering is HL2 going to run on open GL or D3D??? anyways you think the gt would play hl2 better than ati?

yup got my GT at Bestbuy too for 399.99 ^^
and yea i love my GT in CS:S at 1280x1024 High 4xAA 8xAF i get 75 FPS in the stress test so im happy and in CS:S i get any were from 60-120 some times dips to 30 in REALY hectic gunfights but damn its fast :D havent bin this impresed since i got my Voodoo 1 back in the day
and oh the "factory OC" is nice in that you only have to get 30 more on the core and 50(100DDR) more on the mem EASY OC imo

what im worried about is the 6800's ability to do AA/AF well keeping frames up....x800 xt handles that better ...soo im confused on what to do...i understand some get 6800gt for doom 3 but im really only going to be play HL2 and CSS

id say 60+ FPS with 4xAA and 8xAF is good ^^at 1280x1024

The x800 XT will perform fractionally better at those games. But it is also more expensive than the GT by about $150 and still isn't even on any store shelves that I've seen yet. Still good hardware, no doubt about it.

And the 6800 GT does AF very well... up to 8x with no significant FPS hit in Doom 3, anyway. I haven't used much AA, but only because it seems like a waste of time at 1600x1200.
