Last week I noticed an odd hum to my case, and since I was pulling it apart and putting it in a new case I decided to put off investigating it until today. My results from tracking down the source of the noise:

Honestly, I see how simple it is to replace the fan, and it would be much more convienent for the both of us for you to ship a 25 cent fan directly to me. Is there any way this could be possible?

i have a 50mm cheapo fan from an old k6-ii that i was gonna use in a mod... i can get that to you if it'd work... it'd look super ghetto but it'd work.

I appreciate your generosity, but I know there is a BFG customer support represenative that floats through these fourms. This is really not what I consider a big deal.

I am not looking to modify this card, only possibly taking off the heatsink and inspecting and replacing the thermal paste, but I am unsure if that would void the warranty. BFG has a lifetime warranty, and I have a feeling this card will be used in some sort of capacity in my household for at least the next 5 years.

I'm sorry to see that the fan on your graphics card was damaged. Unfortunately it won't be possible for us to send you a replacement fan or cooler, because disassembling or replacing the cooler would void your warranty. I recommend setting up an RMA by calling our 24/7 tech support (1-866-BFG-FIXX) or by messaging me your contact information. We’ll definitely get your card taken care of as soon as we can.

I would just RMA it, BFG from my experiences are pretty quick, plus you will keep that warranty intact

I just have to ask this. WHy would replceing the stock cooler with a better aftermarket cooler, if done properly, void the warranty? That question has always bothered me. I can understand if a n00b cracks the core or something of that nature. A better HSF that makes the core run cooler extends the life of the hardware.

the problem lies in, how many people would think they know how, and really dont. Or would screw it up and want them to replace it. It would pretty much ruin the company...theyd be replacing cards all the time. Its like having someone fix your car, now they all SAY they are mechanics...but how do u really know? Are you gonna give money to them all just to find out? theres no point in that
