Hi guys,

Recently when playing CS I have started noticing "snow" on the screen, as if I am overclocking. Generally I notice this on the dust maps, I cant be sure if it is happening on other maps or not. The card is running stock settings from the factory (so i suppose that is technically overclocked as it is the OC model). Also this snow is not all over the screen or anything. I can only notice it in certain places, i guess its the darker places as the rest of the map is pretty bright and white snow would be hard to notice really.

I am running the 71.84 drivers from nvidia.com

I really dont know what the problem is. If there is a problem with the card (ie overheating, hardware issue etc) would something like RTHDRIBL cause the artifact to show up? Does anyone have any ideas as to what may be going on? If you need any more info then please let me know and I will try to answer questions asap.

All help would be greatly appreciated.

This is usually a sign that the card is overheating or running way above specs. This can be either the core or the memory. If I had to guess, it's probably the memory unless you're also getting a lot of graphics tearing.

maybe check your temps and if they're pretty high (above 90c underload), then you could try and reseat the heatsink. it's always possible that something isn't making contact very well.

Hi guys, I tried reseating the card. I clear out any and all dust in he heatsink (there wasnt very much there).

The card is running at factory settings as bought from BFG. I checked the HSF and all looked ok. Not really sure what else to try.

I ran the rthdr thing for a good 40mins or so, the temp went up to 84*C but it ran flawlessly, no artifacts or anything. Surely if something was wrong that rthdr utility would show it up?? It's pretty intensive...

hey ur not the only one who is having problems :) I am getting artifacts also..but it is with the gun...the deagl and ONLY in dust maps too..must be a game glitch becasue I underclock my gpu/memory down 100mhz and still artifacts...

well i am off to work now, but i will try that out when i get in in the evening. Anythings worth a try. I gave UT2k4 a go lastnight and that seemed fine. Didnt notice any artifacts. The thing is even in the dust maps it is hardly noticable so if it is happening in other games/apps I could easily be missing it. Its pretty subtle at the moment i guess. I will underclock and see what happens. Will report back later this evening...

Cheers guys, the help; is appreciated.
