Hey guys, i just picked up the BFG 6800 Gt and i have a quick question. ( i used search first)

Is there an adapter to send DVI signal to YGB like the ati cards have? I have an HD TV but we bought it just before they started to put the DVI connections on them =(.

If not is there a cheap solution to my problem? Besides S-Video.
 
Radio Shack. But I am not so shure how cheap it will be.

What is so bad about S-video? One my older TV I see a huge jump in quality from RCA video to S-video. Is the jump from S-video to Composit that big again?

Hmm maybe time for a better TV!! :D
 
Mainly its the resolutions you can achieve from HD. 480,720 and 1080i. You can only go up to max of 1024x768 from s-video and the image quality is great deal worse than HD.

Has anyone attempted to use the ATI DVI > component adatper on nvidia cards?

Not sure...however there is one thing...The DVI connector on the ATI/nVidia cards is DVI-I which means both DVI-D and VGA(DVI-A) are in the same connector. the Adaptor does not convert DVI to YPbPr but rather the VGA outputs are actually reconfigured to put out the correct signal on the pins.

I don't think the BFG 6800GT supports this...however you can buy a VGA->Component converter. The good ones are ~$150.

That is correct. You needs Red, gree, blue, and your sync singnals which are on the lines. In theory i guess it would work except that there might be another singal that only the ATI cards provide and not the nvidia. Not sure. Tempted to buying one to test. i have 9800 pro also just incase it dosent.

Well i did notice the 6600's have HD Out on them. wonder why they did not give the 6800 owners the same equipment.
