BF2 doesn't heat up card?

I have, like many of you out there, been playing an awful lot of BF2 as of late. Normally when I fire up a game (HL2, FarCry) it gets the fan running full bore (this fan is loud) within 5 mins. I have played at least a few 2+ hour sessions and I have not once heard this fan turn all the way up?
With all the hiccups involved in this game how is it not heating up the card almost instantly?

The card is a Sapphire X850XTPE and the settings are all high except Shadow at medium and AA at 4. I have it at 1680x1050 with the target edit.

I know this game is taxing the card, but I am most concerned with it not turning on the fan because I fear it might be overriding the fan controls somehow.

Am I just paranoid or has anyone else noticed thier cards not getting hot with this game?

EDIT: I just noticed that ATiTool wasn't running, and in stock form the card wont go to 100% until 80C, I now have to give it another go, and will post back if this is still a problem.

yah I tested a few second ago....my card didnt go past 67c load ( 6800ultra on sotck cooling)

usualy in other games it heats up to 74 or so..... this game is more ram dependent and cpu..

I didn't check for temps, but I did not hear the fan running on high when I played for about 45 mins last night.
I have my temp settings set as....

5°C 15%
55°C 35%
60°C 45%
63°C 55%
66°C 65%
69°C 76%
72°C 100%
96°C 100% (this is unchanged from default)

These settings are done through ATi Tool, and at 55% the fan is normally quite noticable.

I also have noticed not hitting normal load temp on my 6800gt. Normally it maxes in the mid 70s somewhere, and if I check it just after exiting bf2 it's only 67-68.
