Better PSU?

I am wondering if a new PSU would help me oc more. I can post into Windows with 217x11 at 1.93vcore (actually 1.86-1.88) undervolted nf7-s. I can play games fine and everything runs smooth. It won't run prime for more than a minute though. The highest prime stable that I can get is 204x11 at 1.76vcore. I've even tried 2v vcore and still prime fails. I know it's not my memory because I ran memtest for 9 hours at 217x11 2.5-3-3-11 and got no errors. I have a 420w turbolink that came with my case. Was looking into a 480w antec true blue sleeved at performance-pcs.com. I also just ordered a thermalright nb-1 to cool the northbridge. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Changing the psu never help my OC.
I have bought two psu for this purpose only and it never help.

Now, better NB cooling might help :)

Watts aren't the entire picture. Watt(get it?) are your amps?
Ordered swifty NB cooler will post results.

Agreed, but quality of that power is *very* important for the stability of OCs

Antec > turbolink

My rails at 2.25ghz are 3.28v, 4.95v and 11.80v. When I post to 217x11 my rails are 3.26, 4.95 and 11.5-11.6. Would that low 12v rail make my oc less stable? Would an antec true blue 480w fix that?

an Antec TRUE POWER would fix that, rails get voltage independently rather then combining the 3 .3 & 5 v rails.

I recommend at least a 430 watt true POWER.

if you got money....

pc power and cooling 510 deluxe...best out there. period

if you don;t have a lot of money, the antec truepower 430 is an excellent psu. I have mine modded to 3.5@3.3v line, 5.2@5v line, 12.1 on 12v line.

pc power and cooling 510 deluxe...rock solid performance and quiet...you can even get it with a more silent fan than the std one it comes with, worth every penny ! However if money is a concern... Antec 480 or 550 would be my second choice...check around, most successful OC's reccomend the Antec 480+ and have no stability issues

Ok I have just ordered a Antec True Control 550w custom sleeved from performance-pcs.com. Think this will get my rails up? I'm hoping it will let me push it to around 2.35-2.4ghz.
