My current rig is in my signature.

I'm wanting to go high end. Basically all I need is a new video card. If you were in my shoes, would you get an agp card, like a radeon x800 xtpe, or a geforce 6800 ultra. Or would you hold off a few weeks and get a new SLI MB and a pci-e geforce 6800 ultra... and then later on add a second one? In other words, is it smart and logical to go with SLI, or is is basically a waste of money? (BTW: I have a 21" monitor, so I like to run my games at 1600x1200).
 
Wait it out. I built my system in early July and I'm wishing I'd have held out for another few months. SLI is so damned tempting.
 
definitely wait, if you don't get SLI, pci-e is worth waiting for as it will probably start to actually be utilized within a few months
 
im in the same boat as you, except i havnet gotten my A64 yet, but i plan on ordering one very soon. i think im holding out till the SLI boards come out, nothing like instantly upgrading your videocard by adding anoher one whenever... especially in a year when the ultras come down in price
 
I wouldn't jump on SLi right as it becomes available though. I'd give it a few months after release to allow the tech to mature a bit unless the first round of retail products really kick ass with little or no issues. There's nothing wrong with your rig. The word "bleeding" is in "bleeding edge" for a reason.
 
pcie (even tho the tech wont be used for at least 6 months if not a year, at all)

id go SLI for various reasons.

1. when you have pcie slots you can upgrade in the future easier.
2. better performance.

3. get a 6800 pcie card.. wait 6 months or a years.. then snag a 2nd 1 for cheaper adn vola.. double the power.

but if you cant wait get a 6800.

either way your good.
