Hey guys, im looking for a decent quality psu for about $50. Im not looking for anything super powerful, its going to be running:
c2d e6750
4gb ram
9800gt
1 hdd
1 dvdrw

no overclocking. Right now im looking at the corsair cx430 but i just wanted to see if there is something better in that price range. right now the cx430 is $45 on newegg...not looking to spend much more than 50ish. any advice?

I built my sisters rig with that PSU after researching it, its the best thing in the price range you are looking at.

The 520W NEO ECO suggested above is your best bet for that price.

I echo this. That PSU has a single 40A +12V rail and at 50°C/122°F whereas the Corsair CX430's "430W" wattage rating and 28A +12V rating is at a low internal PSU operating temperature of 30°C/86°F. In fact, that CX430 provides no more +12V capacity than an Antec EarthWatts EA380D Green. Plus, the CX430 is not 80-Plus certified, which is usually an indication of a lower-quality design.

I would recommend visiting a deals website like slickdeals and searching for PSU. Someone posted a nice deal for a xigmatek psu for about $30 after rebates. It was a quality 600W that is plenty for you.

Actually, it's barely worth the $30. Especially since that PSU is actually based on essentially the same HEC/Compucase platform as Thermaltake's dreaded TR2 and TR2 RX series PSUs.

Antec EarthWatts EA650 is another option. You can get it for $50 on Amazon and it got a good review from OK wolf.
