Can you guys recommend some cards ( in different price range)

that have a good performance to power consumption efficiency ?

the break down can be 3D mark scores / power consumption under full load

the only impression I have right now are 5770s are pretty good at this

trying to be more eco friendly, and also cut my electricity bill

Thanks

If you want performance /watt, you are looking at AMD without question. the 6xxx series is more efficient than the 5xxx series. The 6850 is, I believe, pretty much the most energy efficient card you can get in the performance/gaming range. the 5770/5750 are excellent as well. The only way you can really get much more efficiency than those cards would be to go for the super low-powered 6450 or an APU or similar.

Yeap, AMD all the way, with the sole exception in the form of the 6790, but that has to do with how they neutered a 6870 to achieve it.

It's not that simple. Several, but not all AMD models are more efficient in that way. :p I'd recommend that anyone buying based on that to look up the performance/W in several reviews.

For example: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Palit/GeForce_GTX_560_2_GB/28.html

OP: are you looking at sub-$100 cards only? That would help narrow down your choices. The HD 5770 has great performance/W, but it doesn't lead in that metric anymore.

No. You want me to go spend my time to pull 3dmark scores and power consumption levels so you can come back and just read the answer? Do it your self.

:) That is a good answer. 3DMark scores and power consumption aren't hard to find.

OP: 3DMark is a lousy benchmark to gauge gaming performance or efficiency.

Obviously not just ANY AMD, but NO Nvidia card is currently leading in perf/watt in any bracket. Also, for pretty much anything below 2560x1600, the 6850 is #1 in the charts linked, and I cannot imagine the OP is gonna be using 2560x1600, especially if they mentioned the 5770.

Very true not just ANY AMD. I am going to be using 2560x1600 and this chart is exactly what I needed. The 6990 is way to expensive right now but it's really promising to see how efficient it is!

why you sound like a ____

I'm sure there are reviews out there, but I just didn't find it.

And I'm also sure there are people in this forum want to know the answer too.

Some thing wrong with me or some thing wrong with you?

I sound liked like an ass because you want other people do to your work for you. You know exactly what you want so go pull it. You can get 3D mark from tomshardware and you can get power draw too.

I tell you what, I'll do it for you but I'd like some money from you and so would other people on this forum so why don't you just paypal me and other people on this forum like 20$?

I thought this was a friendly forum where people could ask questions. Some will come up with answers which other people (like me) can take note of....perhaps they hadn't thought of wanting to know that bit of info.
If the question is beneath peoples level of tolerance, then don't answer, otherwise there would be no point to a forum as the only answer to any question would be.....'Google it' and find out for yourself.
I guess you do have a point, but I don't think it was really a friendly answer...

The forum exists for questions that can not be easily googled. For example: what kind of vram limitations will I have if I go with 1080p and 512megs of ram but turn off SASO. Or will a 590 fit into this mATX case. Seeing a million threads asking the same question that can be easily googled just pisses the people off who are wiling to contribute to the above questions that aren't easily googled or haven't been asked a million times.

This is a friendly forum... but you could have come off a bit less egocentric and turned your request into a discussion vs a forum wide man hunt for your own purposes.

With that said... vengence is being a tad bit overly abrasive. Bad day much? If you don't like his request then ignore it and move on to the other multitude of posts on this forum.

For a top tier card I cant believe how high the 6950 is on that list.

Based on the specs on paper, the 6950 has a large number of stream processors at a relatively low clock and low voltage, so it makes good sense. Just like how the 5850 is a more efficient 5870. Not that I'm blaming you for it, just saying :p.
