I've seen way too many ads that are unconvincing of truth when looking for places to legally download/pay for mp3s. WMP 11 has an "URGE" application built in that you can sign up for and download music in mp4 format. I would have kept my trial but I was unable to play these mp3s on another PC if iI wasn't signed into URGE. It also would not convert over to normalized mp3 format.

I just want something/some place to buy individual songs/full albums that I OWN once purchased. Straight mp3 format, not catches attached.

I assume most applications have you either pay by the month or pay by the song. Can someone give some thoughts or point me to a redundant thread?

Buy CD, rip CD, put CD in case, store. No scratches whatsoever.

Drive to store using gas
Pay more than I have to
Take up unnecessary physical volume
Take time to rip

I have my reasons for posting the question I posted. I've considered the other side in which you suggested and that's not what I'd like to do. Any ideas anyone?

Most likely Amazon at the moment. Fair selection, great bitrates and DRM-free. The only catch is that some tracks are audio fingerprinted.
