What's the best 20, 22 and 24 incher for gaming and why?

What's the best kind of panel type most suitable for gaming? MVA? IPS? TN? etc etc.

What's a decent enough response speed for gaming? 2ms, 5ms, 8ms.... etc etc.

Opinions, start............!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Uh, 24" 2407 from dell. I hear that is a nice display, although I do no research into the 24" area because I am a gamer and running a game at 1920x1200 takes some serious kick-ass horsepower.(AKA Money) But yea... I prefer horsepower over big ass monitor.(Although right now I am stuck with neither)
22" LG L226WT or Samsung 226BW. Going to buy one of these probably.
20"... Not sure.

20" = 2007WFP, nice resolution and not needing a powerhouse to run it. It has also a excellent panel with S-IPS for most cases (rare guys will get P-MVA panel).

If I order that Dell, can I see whether it's an S-IPS panel without opening the box?

check the sticky at the top of the page, it will answer all your questions:)

and thats a big NEGATIVE on the dell 2407, i havent heard anyone really say anything good about it other than its size.

best thing to do is pick a monitor that you are interested in, look at some online reviews by companies first, end users second. Half the time people have no clue what they are talking about when they review stuff, and everyone's opinion will be subjective and different. Mostly about issues, not quality of the product.

No guarantee but lately, all boxes who are marked A04 as revision get a S-IPS from http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1111100. You could try to eiter ask the CSR to add a note to ship A04 only or use the 21 day satisfaction policy to return the ones who are S-PVA in case it happens (Dell pay both way shipping so you don't lose anything) till you get the right one. However, since a few weeks, odds is greatly in your favor to get a S-IPS.

That would be "S-PVA" that is sometimes substituted for the S-IPS. If Dell mixed P-MVA's then it wouldn't be so bad..

Oops, mixed the two acronyms :p

Anyway, I will pick up mine at Purolator warehouse and will report my own luck with the 2007WFP panel type.

A 24" NEC S-IPS would be best, and most expensive. There is a BenQ and an Acer 24" P-MVA that would be a good runner up.

I just purchased a brand new Dell 20" E207WFP for $200. Hooked it up lastnight and wow, its pretty amazing.

Note that 20" and 22" displays both run at 1680x1050, so no worries about a performance hit going from 20" to 22".
