Hi, I wanna buy a hd4870 1gb card. to play all games now and crossfire it later on. But cant decide which one I should get.

I heard xfx is good and so is saphire but I dont understand why xfx is so much cheaper.
does the price matter in this case?

here is the list from shop im going to buy card from. Please advice on which one i should get. I prefer to keep it under 180euro but if the difference in performance is worth it i can go a bit higher.

thanks!

edit: or is it better to go for xfx hd4890 xxx?

The Sapphire cards in that list are either factory overclocked (OC versions) or have a non-reference cooling system (eg Vapor-X, just Google it to get more info). In the US XFX have a better reputation for their warranty, but as far as I know in Europe they are about the same.

Performance wise, the 4890 is around 10-15% faster than the 4870 (stock vs stock), so if you're into overclocking then you can get the 4870 (1Gb) to match a stock 4890. However, a 4890 can be overclocked even further. If you are not into overclocking (and don't mind a bit of extra noise), I would recommend getting the cheapest 4890.

At the same time however, the next generation from ATI will be announced Sept 10th. I would strongly advise that if you can wait that long then you should. Even if you cannot afford to buy the newest generation, the prices of both the 4890 and 4870 should drop, giving you a much better chioce of deals...

I'm British but I live in NL, for the best prices check out:
