k, i'm interested in buying a gaming mousepad. I want something big and durable. I've been using allsop mousepads for years but now i'm tired of dealing with cloth pads.
is there anything out there that will last for years?

p.s. do not mention using my desk. i don't want grooves in my purty desk.

Func Surface 1030. Ive had the same one for 3 years, hundreds of hours of gameplay logged on this thing and it's still kickin.

Funny you mention Allsop. They make a hard textured plastic mousepad that makes mousing smooth. It sells for about 9 bucks at Fry's.

how big is an icemat v2?
bigger than an allsop?
i'm probably gonna go icemat if i can find cheap mouseskatez solution.
anybody know where to find skatez?

heh..i remember that mousepad... it was decent but i didn't use skatez and my mousefeet were rubbing off. i prolly would have kept it if i could have found cheap mouse skatez.

40 dollars for a mousepad? Count me out. Icemat is just playing off the idea of "This new surface will help you poon." Which, in fact, it probably wont. The really good players could play with a cheap Microsoft ball mouse and a rickety old dell cloth pad and still woop most people's asses, even in fast games like Q3, UT and Doom 3.

If you're gonna spend that much money on a pad, be my guest, but I dont advise it. You'll like it a hell of a lot more than the allsop most likely, but for 40 dollars? Think of it, for 20 you can get a Func, and the other 20 you can get the latest Maxim and a White Chocolate Oreo Mocha Chiller. That's my 2 cents. Spend your money how you want though.

Get a Ratpadz. I have one, it is $10 which is the most I would spend on a mousepad, but it works pretty good. I think the guy that owns this forum made it or something too. Go [H].

My Corepad is great, tempered glass surface paired up with thick teflon mouse skids, can't be beat. I pwn ju in CS:S.

CS Hyde NGen. Get one and lay it over your current mousepad, as long as it's flat. No competition here.

If you can get one of the originals, go for it.

Sadly, I've gone through 3 of the GS pads. I just wear the area I use out to the point that it can no longer track reliably.

I've recently moved to the Func, and I'll use it until I find some new Ver 1 Ratpadz.

is cloth really better then plastic?? i currently use a fUnc1030 and i like it alot.

It's all personal prefrence, I was hardcore cloth when I gamed with ball mice, but I ended up buying an Intellimouse explorer, and tried it out on func 1030 (plastic) and it was far better IMO, quicker/smoother.

I went through (literally) a RatpadzGS, an XTrac Pro HS, and now I'm using a DKT pad (the smallest size). The Ratpadz is really worn out, but still tracks fine. It eats mouse feet at a moderate pace. The XTrac Pro HS wore out very fast, and refuses to track with my MX500. Eats mouse feet like it's going out of style. The DKT pad seems to be the most durable so far and tracks the best. Quietest and cares for my mouse feet too. Only regret with it is that I should've gone one size up, as I have the room. I recommend the DKT pad.

Icemat (glass surface) is for years.
Just don't forget to change the surferz and you'll have very good gliding.

My brother has used the func 1030 for a few years and likes it pretty well. I got a razer exactmat in january and love it. My brother likes it a lot better than the func...it's bigger, thinner, and with less friction.

I'm actually using a glass cutting board I got from the kitchen. it has a mildly textured surface and it works well with my mx510
