i am well clued up about all my W/C hardware but when it comes down to the liquid to fill it i SUCK lol.

ive had experience with a couple already, primochill ice is shite the color seperates after about a week, fluid xp isnt as bad as people make out it just leaves a bit of mess at the bottom of the res.

i just dont feel like spending 30 bux plus shipping on a bottle of coolant right now.
i mean i know its not completely conductive the second a bit of dust even gets into it but im looking for something similar that wont kill my computer if theres a leak, i know nobody can know for sure it wont damage my rig but whats a good semi-safe alternative ?

what about distilled water and a few drops of UV dye with some other stuff ? or the swiftech hydrx stuff ? im also tryna stop any gunk building up bad aswell as being as less conductive as poss.

When I was w/c I went from fluid xp (clear with red dye) to distilled water with iodine.

I've read of people using distilled water with anti-freeze added. Not sure how that fits the bill tho.

just use hydr-x from swiftech......2 bucks .....mixed with distilled water.....makes a gallon.

if you make it "thicker" or more concentrated, it'll be UV reactive if thats your bag.

only comes in green.

you can just use distilled and car antifreeze.......that all computer coolant is....plus a pinch of antifungal.

thats what i'll probably do.. i want green anyway.. then i'll just add a few drops of UV green dye to give it some extra life.

given no aluminum in your loop no more than 5-10% antifreeze and distiled water, or over on frozencpu.com they have ultra pure fesser water 6.99/32 ounces no color. It's non-conductive and at idle 1 or 2 c higher than antifreeze and water, under load 1 or 2c cooler than freeze and water.

I tested it it's almost totally non conductive.

Has to be a bummed test. No nonmetallic fluid other than ammonia has a better heat coefficient than water.

The best solution is pure distilled water with a drop or two of copper sulfide.

The BEST "fluid" to use assuming your not mixing metals is distilled water... plain old vanilla distlled water with a drop or 2 of biocide (such as copper sulfide or some type of almost pure silver that you can put into the res that you don't care about,).

Best performance, cleanest, easiest, and ironically cheapest. OH and Distiled water is just as "non conducting" as all that other shit.

Best is distilled water with some PT Nuke. If you have mixed metals use some anti freeze. Using iodine in a loop with cause acrylic in the loop to crack.

As Chilly said, pure distilled water is the best. Even though it's somewhat 'boring' it's still the most efficient in terms of cost and performance.

Any additives you add to your loop will lower performance.

I run a fully distilled water setup with colored tubing and it works flawlessly. I drained a few weeks ago because I recently installed a NB cooler, but the drain was clean, clear and no problems whatsoever.

QFT

distilled + PTnuke

This is already covered in my WC FAQ and reiterated by others, distilled+1-2drops of ptnuke is best.

Don't attempt to get color in the loop because it's not worth the hassle in the end when it will fade, gunk the blocks and get messy. Want some bling ? Get colored or black tubing and be done.

Gasoline has some good conductive properties. I dont' suggest that.

you're right BUT... if you look at most peoples rigs on here they go for the clear shiny tubing like tygon / clearflex as it looks good with color in it... the colored tubing does not have that effect and its the really stretchy type, sure its great for sealing onto fittings but if you dont have coils it kinks like a bitch.

i still think its worth it for the bling even if i do have to drain, replace the tubing, and clean the blocks couple times a year:p

I know but that's the price to pay to get bling ;) If you don't care about bling or esthetics, just don't put any color.

I've used both high end (clear) tygon and the average cost (colored) tubing and TBH it's not all that different. While average tubing is a little softer in material it is still workable.

As long as you know how to handle your tubing it won't kink. Keep with the bends and let the tubing dictate where it's going, not the other way around.

One of the most difficult areas to tube is from the CPU to the NB because it's so close. I've had no big problems with using either tubing and kinking wasn't too big of an issue.

When I have my CC's on and the red tubing reflects against the red CC, it's just as effective. as clear tubing with red fluid. Of course you wouldn't be able to get the effect of UV reactive fluid but it just all depends on what you want to do.
