I was plannin on getting new setup with Mobile XP2500+ and with SN45G (or NF7-S n Superlanboy). But 35W Mobile XP2400+ and 45W Mobile XP2600+ can o/c better and mobile A64 can also o/c well on some mobos. And I just found out that some latest desktop XP2500+ can o/c just as well or even better(?) then IQYHA Mobile XPs, 2.2@1.4v, 2.5@1.7v. And there are new Geode NX 1750@14W..

so which cpu and mobo? i don't plan to o/c the cpu to max n run it 24/7 but i want decent speed and also run cool and stable, so low voltage.
 
....I always thought OC was just the luck of the chip you get (IE: it doesnt madder which model # the chip, but rather simple how good it is)...correct me if im wrong...
 
Even with two same chip, one can run cooler at same speed, lower voltage at same speed and o/c higher at same voltage n o/c higher overall. i.e. intel celeron 533 ppga vs intel celeron 533 fcpga.

If latest desktop XP2500+ can o/c 2.2G@1.4v and 2.5@1.7v thats a big improvement over old models and should run cooler even at 2.2G then old one running at stock speed, so my new pc shouldnt have any overheating problem. At least amd is finally doin somethin about their cpu overheatin problem..
 
Here is a simplification of why

the OC abilities of a chip are as follows. The transistors in the die are made at an atomic level, and in such, it is not uncommon for some to break. Now, if 2 of the same procs were made, 1 might lose quite a bit more than the other in transistor numbers. This in turn will make the processor limited by how much it will OC. Considering machinery out there isnt 100% YET, not every chip will be the same. This is why one chip will be able to do a 500 mgz OC and the other won't do more than ~40 mgz

As for keeping the chip cool, I asked my very knowledgable friend and this is what he had to say...

"lower voltage, larger di size, more space between traces and transistors, less transistors, larger transistors of the same number"

I guess that explains it nicely
 
The best bet now for OCing I think is AMDs mobile XP line. Since they are mobile chips they will theoretically get cut from the better part of the silicon wafer. The better quality the silicon the better the chip. I am pretty sure AMD clocks their chips depending on performance it gives and what part of the wafer it comes from.

Thats what i thought, IQYHA mobile o/c well but current desktop XP2500s (AQYHA 0409 and KQYHA) can o/c just as well(?) or even better according wat i read..
 
I think the mobiles have been o/cing better than the desktop line, I have a 2400+ and the mobiles out perform it....
 
Yeah... Id rather not talk about the AXM line... last time I commented people told me to stop pulling an M11...
 
Just got desktop XP2500+ and it can o/c 2.2g@1.50v, and 2.31g(210x11)@1.65v so far with stock hsf. (its AQYHA0414)
 
dont recall the numbering on my xp-m2500 but it is currently running at 2.4( 200*12) @ 1.6v stable as a boulder. temps are 36C full load. not sure on idle as it folds 24/7 unless im in game.

havent tried any higher as i prefer to keep the noise from the tornado down(running it at 7 volts) on a thermalright SP-97. im sure it would ramp up nicely though. might have to experiment and report back.
 
I love my 2500+ and that is stock voltage and a mid range HSF. I'll get a better Vid card and HSF here in a few months and crank it up (I want to run DOMM III with all the goodies :cool: )
