hi everyone!

what do you guys think is the best CPU cooler for my Intel P4 3.2 Prescott?

i was thinking of the volcano thermaltake 12? but that is only for athlons... :(

what you guys reckon the best one for me to get is?

with no budget limitations! :D
 
well, within reason

vapochill is a "tad" expensive :p

i am just looking for the one which will cool down my CPU the most :) (heatsink style, no liquid nitrogen stuff!)
 
A lotta people here aren't a big fan (no pun intended) of the thermaltake stuff. I'd go with a Thermalright or Swiftech heatsink and slap a nice Panaflo on it.
 
i second the thermalright + panaflow

pick up some AS5 also

if u want to OC then lap the HS
 
thermaltake SUCKS!!! please do not ever by their products.

Zalman CU-7000 is the best, imho... Otherwise get a thermalrite as suggested above.

I still say the zalman is king, however.

have you tried both heatsinks on the same rig to be saying that thermalright sucks?

you might wanna re-read that. he said thermaltake sucks, not thermalright.

My Zalman is keeping my 3400 CH @ 36*/42* ( stock speeds for now...until my OCZ 3200 comes )
 
i've got the thermalright slk-97-U with panaflow 92mm

my amd 2500 1.8 overclocked to 2.5 at 39c idle and 45c load, i think thats very impressive
 
which Thermalright should i get then, considering i have intel,

my options are:
SP-94
XP-90
SLK-948U
or the Swiftech MCX478-V - Socket 478
 
dont buy from frozencpu.. there prices are way higher then the egg $48 vs $37 (with shipping)
sp-94 cant be easly beat by anything if its setup right.... the zalman works nicely in my friends p4 but its a northwood

any thermalright will do, ocin or not. slap a panaflow on it and ur fine. include as5
 
A XP-90 with a 90mm 50cfm 30 dB fan with an air scoop that connects to the outside of the case?

Go with Thermalright, I don't know what these people are talking about...Zalman being better. The Thermalright cools better, the one thing the Zalman might have is that it's quiet. Though, with a Panaflo on the Thermalright, it'd win all out.

And if you end up with Thermalright, make sure you get a nice copper one :)
 
Zalman is nice and quiet, however on newer CPUs its hard to recommend over some of thermalrights offerings. I doubt you will see a low enough temp to even consider it unless you wanted a quiet computer without overclocking.

I donno, my Zalman ( at max RPM ) is keeping my 3400 CG clawhammer @ 2.4ghz ( 230x10.5) w/ 1.55v around 38*/43* Not bad considering I cant even here the thing. :)
 
IMO, I'd go with the XP-90 before the XP-120.

and if your CPU is an LGA775, Thermalright should be releasing a new version of the XP-90 compatible with the socket within the next few days (or so they told me).
