Best/coolest case?

I'd been looking at two cases specifically.. the antec p180 and the Lian-Li PC65

both are about the same price but the Lian-Li is aluminum as opposed to steel so i'd like to think its cooler?

The computer going in this is a 3.2ghz p4 prescott, a Raid 5 array housing anywhere from 4-8 hard drives, x800 xt...

its going to be a fileserver/HTPC so cooling is necessary...
 
Anything Lian-Li or the 3d Aurora. I actually think the aurora is somewhere between Lian-Li and xoxide.com in terms of "THE LIGHT, THE LIGHT, THE HORRIBLE LIIIIIGHT" factor. Gigabyte does have lights, but most of it is ambient. Lian-Li is minimalist, no lights, no windows unless you install 'em yourself. Drives can be hidden very easily with the built-in drive bezels.
 
Doesn't the PC-65 use 80mm fans? Go for the PC-7 and get 120's, it'll allow you much quieter operation and better temps to boot. If you can't live without the removable motherboard, go for the PC-60. It has a front 120mm fan, but the top and rear are 80mm. Let us know what you choose!
 
Several Lian Li cases are available with windows.

I have several PC-V cases, and I just got a PC-60B that I like.

It's up to you; only you know what you think is coolest.
 
I'm probably going to step on a few toes here, but...

The aluminum make-up of the PC65 doesn't really make a noticeable difference in temperatures when compared to the P180. Shitty, steel cases? Yes, it will. But the Antec Pxxx series definitely holds it own in terms of temperatures.

My top 3 (kinda) if you're lookin' for the perfect combination of: aesthetics, cooling potential, build quality, features.

1) anything Lian-Li (preferably full-size or midtower)
2) Antec P150/180
3) Gigabyte 3D Aurora
 
i own the p180 and it's a good case, it cools well, and is quiet...it can also be a pain in the ass if you get a bad door, or the sides peel due to a bad batch of glue...also wire management takes a little longer than most.

has 2x120mm and 2x80mm...

the cpu cover and fan is perfect since my p4 3.2ghz just has a heat sink with no fan (the old case had a cpu cover/fan thing as well) then again I kind of just wanted to get a better heat sink with a good fan...

has the 120mm fan up front for the hard drives as does the antec p180... if it just comes down to looks i'll probably go with the antec...
 
If this is going to be used as a HTPC, you would like something that is very quiet. The P180 takes my vote for its silence and it can blend in with your components. (The black version would look even better)

A good p180 is great, but it is the last case I want to have to work in periodically. I've got to get into mine and do something about a failing northbridge fan and am dreading it. Guess I'll grab some compressed air and blow it out at the same time.

Loved my Antec, until the shipper dropped it :mad: but yea, fun case, easy to work with, i had the P180.
 
everyone raves about the p180 but to be honest it looks extremely boring to me.. i know i know what's important is the build quality/design/features/etc but I'd like something with those qualities but that looks really good at the same time.. the p180 looks too plain to me :(
