Best case for airflow?

My current case is small for the amount of stuff inside of it and the airflow is severely crippled. I can't close the side of my case because the cpu goes up into the 65-70C range. I'm looking to purchase a new case, probably a tower case for future expansions such as watercooling. I was looking at the Lian-Li PC-70 full tower case and thought about putting a 120mm fan on the side panel over the cpu area just to give it that extra unf.

any suggestions are welcome.

and thank god [H]Forums are back

As long as you don't mind spending the cash for the PC-70, there won't be much of a better solution than that. A PC-70, maxed out with fans, and with 120's modded into the side will be better than just about any case you can buy, IMHO

I just picked up this board (http://www.lian-li.com/products/pcv1000.htm) Friday and find it to be a great case for airflow. I'll post pictures after I get done with carving it up with my dremel. :p

Woah. Wonky looking case. Is the mobo really upside down, or am I looking at it wrong?

DarkDonut, have you considered the PC-60 series? It's been my experience that the PC-70 is just too big for most setups. I think it just looks too lonely inside, especially if you install a case window.

You'll save a little money with a 60, and I think it'll just look better-proportioned. I guess size is everything to some people, but it's just all out of whack IMHO. It'll probably perform just as well, since you're not pushing air through space that's not being used.

Whichever one you choose, make sure you go to the trouble of doing some wire cleanup and airflow planning (eg. neutral fan pressure)

I cry every time I see a Lian-Li with a trick window showing off tangled power wires and flat IDE cables, covered in dust and fingerprints. D*mn people with more money than patience...

Wow.. I really think it IS upside (on purpose of course) lol.. weird ;)

Yes, it is upside down. It costs around $200 if i'm not mistaken. This case reminds me a lot of the G5 Cases. The airflow in this case is supposed to be much better than most even with just 2 fans. Perfect if you want a near silent computer; but that's just what I get from it by looking at it.

I think the motherboard tray can be mounted either upside down or right-side-up. I think it's also BTX compatible, and you can have 2 power supplies, one on the bottom.

There is space for HDDs on the bottom.

Looks to be an insane case, but 200 dollars without powersupply is too much imho.

200$ is almost worth it but it should be 150$ like when the first alum lian-li's midtowers came out.

Mod the case with perfect WC setup and you're in business.

yeah, 200 is way too expensive for my tastes. Give me a nice Cooler Master and i'll be in business.
