Alright...well, damn Fedex decided it didn't want to ship my Zerex 2 day, and so its not here >:O

SO, in the mean time, i would like to know what i should put in my water:

water wetter, antifreeze, other stuff?

please reply, i'll be putting it together sunday, and I would like to get it possibly tomorrow!

i used to like fedex...but this bogus!

zerex and distilled water is a solid combo and fairly cheap.

hydrx and distilled water also works really well. it's not as thick as antifreeze so it won't impact your flow rates nearly as much.

i've heard bad things about water wetter.

me too, which is why i don't really want to have to get that...

where can i get HydrX? like a petstore or something?

any other ideas?

thanks, rtierney, btw

Hydrx is made by Swiftech especially for watercooling in computers. It's a combination of corrosion prevention, algaecide, and surfantant.
It's 3.95 a bottle from www.sidewindercomputers.com.
1 bottle mixes with 1L of distilled water, which is usually enough to fill 1 system unless you have a huge radiator/res.

well, i kinda want to be able to get something like at home and near by, so that would be nice...

just get some water wetter, antifreeze and use about 10 percent additive and 90 distilled water .
and as soon as the zerex comes by change the water, should be fine...think about it this way, there are people that run their set ups like that all the time without a hitch.

Just go to your local auto parts store and buy the cheapest antifreeze they have (or whatever color you want, prices will vary) and mix about 10% antifreeze with 90% distilled water. Thats what I am using, and has been working great for about a month with no growths or discoloration.

i'll look into the antifreeze cuz its cheap and accessible

and NO, I'M NOT DISSING FEDEX...just the fact that this time, they got me mad...

I'm worried that since I use a Swiftech 6000 cpu block and a mcw50 gpu block that corrosion may become a problem. The housing on the mcw50 is anodized aluminum.
I'm using Hydrx as my coolant (1 bottle for 1 liter), but for some reason, I don't think that's enough anti-corrosion additive to make sure my blocks don't start eating each other.

Anyone have any thoughts/ideas on that? Should I add a few teaspoons of antifreeze to be sure?

well, that would explain why not to use antifreeze...now, is Valvoline Racing Supercoolant the same thing as Zerex? does it have the anti-bacterial properties?

well, i'm probly going to go to home depot for a drill bit and probly autozone with my dad at ~9:30, so if u could respond, that would be great!

Antifreeze is the best to use to stop corrosion and crap from growing in your system. Hydrx, Corsair's additive and Koolance's additive are all antifreeze based. All you need to do is look at the makeup of the contents of the additive. Corsair's is just plain Serria Low Tox Antifreeze (propylene glycol). Hydrx is based on Ethylene glycol, which is normal antifreeze. I use Serria Low Tox Antifreeze (propylene glycol) in all my systems and they are also mixed metals.

ok, so...i need to look for "Propylene Glycol" or "Ethylene Glycol" in the antifreeze?

what's the difference between the two?

a bit of chemistry :p

well, since google is everyone's friend :p, i searched for both of those substances, and VOILA!! lo and behold, i found info at the first link:

Pretty much, propylene glycol is MUCH less harmful to the body than ethylene glycol. In this instance, I will definitely go for the propylene...

now to find it....:p

any specific names of antifreezes with propylene glycol in them?

also, does anyone know what size circular drill bit to use for a blowhole for a 120mm fan?

"Propylene Glycol" is low tox and a bit more nature friendly, this stuff isn't supposed to kill pets and other animals.
"Ethylene Glycol" extremely toxic, it will kill you and all those that eat of drink it.

alright, well, my dad's gonna pick it up tomorrow morning so i can get my system started!

thanks to all that helped!
