Just picked up a ASUS RT-N56U to replace my D-Link DIR-655 and upgrade in transfer speed is INCREDIBLE. My problem is that I am moving my cable modem and router out to the living room so I can get rid of the crappy repeater, thus now I'm looking for a reliable/fast wireless adapter.

Compatibility with 802.11n is a given, but I'm also wanting to run 5Ghz since 2.4Ghz is crazy congested in my area. Doesn't matter whether it is USB, PCI, or PCI-E.

So far I've tested the Linksys AE1000 and wasn't impressed with the stability or distance.

My girlfriends iMac is right next to my desktop and is getting faster transfer speeds via 5Ghz with the integrated wireless adapter.

Thanks for any help,
Anthony

Thanks for the replies!

Looks to be a nice setup, but is quite expensive once pieced together.

1.) Intel 633ANHMW - $35
2.) Dual-Band WiFi Dipole (Rubber Duck) Antenna - $41
3.) MP2H (mPCIe to PCIe adapter ver 2.2) - $33

Total price is $109 shipped. Way out of budget.
