Hey guys!
I'm getting a new card for christmas for some uber-HL2 gaming. My Ti does alright, but the temptaion of upgrading.....anyway. I've convinced myself that the geforce 6800 NU is good enough for 2 years. After all, look at my ti. So, that said, what is the best 6800? I'm leaning towards the gainward, but it would be awesome if you guys could drop your two cents.

well the 2 fastest 6800NU's are the Asus 6800 G9999 and then the Gainwind 6800 Goden Sample. the Asus is WAY over piced not sure on the Gainwind price but other then that
the BFG 6800 OC is a bit faster then the rest and every once else is useing refrence boards soo other then thoughs 3 there all the same just get the cheapest or see if you can swing a GT but some good OCing and you can get a NU to bet almost as fast as a GT
 
Ok, through mixed grammar, i think I understand what you're saying. The G9999 is way expensive, yes I know this. And it's the stupidest thing i've ever heard :) . So, with regards to the golden sample and the BFG, which fares better in overclocking? Cooling? Performance? Customer Support? Bundle? Speak to me.

Golden Sample has better cooling so in THEORY it should OC better all else being =
BFG has the better suport behind it so thats a plus
other then that it boils down ot looks i like the look of the BFG more but then my PC has a Blue them and it matchs it soo ether card is good
and the BFG may be easyer to find and find at MSRP try Bestbuy.com if there out
use the link on the site to check you local stores then give a call to have them set one aside for you
 
To answer the other part of your question, re: bundles, the BFG includes the full retail version of FarCry. I don't know about the Gainward bundle. When Best Buy first released the BFG, they threw in a bonus of an instant rebate to make Doom 3 free with the card also. I missed that deal, but when I went to Best Buy to buy my BFG, I asked at Customer Service if they would still honor it. They went and checked a binder with past ads in it to find the details, and then came back with an offer to meet me half way--throw in Doom for $25 instead of $50. Unfortunately I had to pass (I was at the limit of my budget already) but I thought it was decent of them to make the offer. So it's worth a try if you have a Best Buy in your area. Heck, yours might even honor the original deal.
 
Leadtek, for sure. There's no doubt which one I'd pick up. The leadtek is one of the lower costing ones, has the best cooler, and I believe has a nice bundle on it to boot. Great overclocker.
 
yea 250 for a BFG is realy good that and it comes with Farcry :cool:
 
Thank you all, but the problem is, I already have Doom 3 and Farcry. So, I've also come up with some alternatives, and my choice will not be the BFG thanks to its cooler, which, in many reviews, is not thast great.

MSI NX6800
LEADTEK WINFAST A400
GAINWARD ULTRA/2100

Which is the best of these? Maybe all that separates them is overclockability? Personally, I heard the MSI cooler is excellent quality and their bundle and overclockability are second to none. What do you think?

My brother has the Leadtek card...he has it oc'd to 400/900 (325/700 stock) stock cooling and without any problems. Having installed and tested it for him, I would recommend it out of those three.
