I have been researching and nothing ever really seems to stick out as a clear best to me. The most important factors to me in order would be color, sharpness, contrast, pixel response. I mostly web browse, photoshop, and stream HDTV and currently have a Sony 17" SDM-HS75P. The 21" Samsung 215TW is the only one on my current list right now. I wouldn't mind going 22 or bigger its just that the resolutions are usually the same so they're not as sharp. I have REAL picky eyes. Inputs/usb do not matter, all I need is DVI.

Below 500... The Dell 2007WFP is the best choice if you can land a S-IPS panel on the panel lottery. It seems that lately, all they ship is only S-IPS so it's a excellent pick.

If your budget is $500 then I'd either get a 22" panel or if you are really pickey like you stated either put a few more dollars into the budget and get a 24" monitor or wait a little longer and the 24"ers should come down to that price range. The 20" widescreens have the same viewable height as a standard 17" lcd - too small in my opinion. :(

NEC 20WMX SOMETHING

(yes I'm the biggest fan of this monitor)

there really is no compare. its the best 20" panel around. if you like the glossy coating of course.

That's what i was hoping, if you're talking about the NEC 20W(M)GX2 that is. I don't want to spent £360 on it and then realise that the Samsung 206BW or Viewsonic VX2025 would look equally as good when gaming (because that's the only thing i'll be doing with the monitor).

save up for a couple more hundred bucks and get yourself 24" Dell instead..

That's kind of what I was thinking, but I would be very satisfied with a 20" with a superior screen.

I said that to myself before, but everytime i come here and i see majority of the people here have the 24", i wanted one too.. so dont say you're satisfy with 20" because in long run you would want to get a bigger LCD.
