Is this a good choice for games and movies?

This is the monitor i just bought this past weekend.

I still have 2 weeks to return it if i'm not completly satisfied.

All i can say for this now is WOW! Awesome..

I didn't see any ghosting yet or blurring...

The only complaint i have, is a little bit too bright,

The contrast and brightness setting on the monitor does not seem to work very well, it doesn't seem to reduce a lot.

for a 25ms pixel, i think is quite good..

Need input
Thks!

I have the BenQ FP991 and it is indeed a fantastic display. One thing I really don't get though

What on earth is the difference between the FP991 (mine), FP992 and 951? It seems the two later have a 250 brightness instead of 300, but are newer models!

Hi guys

I am thinking of buying the FP991 or the Fp951 on monday and would like to know if there was any noticable ghosting on either monitor. I will manly be using the monitor for watching DVD and digital tv.

sanchez i think the difference between the Fp991 and the FP951 is that the 951 doesnt swivel like the 991.

as for the 992 i couldnt see any real difference between spec (appart from the brightness as you pointed out)

So guys would you recommend these monitors to me??

Thanks

Iain

Right now!

I'm watching TV with my All in Wonder, and didn't notice any ghosting at all..

Yesterday night i was playing with Far Cry just to see if there is
any ghosting, and didn't see anything abnormal...

The only complaint i can say is the brightness seem to be too high!

Well sure sounding good at the moment

I have been looking to get the 991 or 951 for a while but wanted to see one working or at least get a review saying that they are good.

Seems to me that there isnt much written on the net about them.

Just have to find a store that has them in stock now.

Is the brightness too high by default or can you not turn it down enough?

Does it come with DVI cable is the other question i should ask.

Thanks
Iain

It does have the two connectors (DVI & Vga)

And yes it does come with the DVI Cable..

For the brightness setting, i did try to adjust it with the front panel button on the monitor, but that doesn't seem to reduce it
very well.

But i found a way to adjust it.
I did use the Ati control panel to reduce the gamma setting and create a profile.
Now everything is just ok...

I think the default monitor setting is set too high.

For DVD movies the default setting is just fine!

Thanks for the advice Digitman i think i will go ahead a buy the monitor on monday.

Oh and if your running the monitor in DVI mode that maybe why the controls on the front dont adjust the brightness. Some LCD monitors lock out the use of these buttons when using DVI.

Cheers
Iain

I love this screen. My bro has a Samsung 193T and mine looks far better as far as i'm concerned!

I never noticed any ghosting on DVD playback or any games except for one: Half Life 2 (beta) showed a bit of ghosting when i tried it a few months back...but it was so minimal it didn't even bother me. It only appeared on a couple of the levels.

I've played Prince of Persia, Need for Speed Underground and Max Payne 2 and they all looked fine to me in the ghosting area. Didn't notice ANYTHING!

Reviews said it didn't come with a DVI but yet mine did! The contrast and brightness doesn't change much on DVI compared with VGA. However, i played around with my ATI 9800 settings to get it just right on the drivers! Brightness is perfect for me!

Reviews wise the monitor doesn't seem to be tested a lot, but when it did...it got good reviews. The only negative they had was the price! All in all Goller i'm so happy I bought this display back in October....even if i was given the choice to swap it with anything today I wouldn't! I like it so much i'm thinking of getting a second FP991 for dual display!
