Bending cold cathodes?

Just say I wanted to have curved cold cathode, is it possible to heat the plexi that its encased in and bend it? Kinda like how you see guys on the forum heating plexi for their case and bending it.
If thats not possible, how about disassembling the cathode and buying flexible clear tubing and putting the cathodes guts into that? I'm a newb as to HOW cathodes work so I guess thats why I'm asking if these things are possible.

Thanks

Well the cold cathode tube itself is a very thin, very fragile glass tube. That is why there is a plastic cover around it. It is a solid glass tube, so you if you bent the plastic around it you would break the cold cathode inside. You would have to remove the cold cathode tube from the plastic tube in order to bend it. Somebody did that a couple years ago with. He was able to bend them with a torch, but he fucked up a lot of them in the process.

we have a guide on doing this at www.twistedmods.com however we recently got hacked and are working on rebuilding it :( Keep checking back for the guides section to show up

No, it won't work

there is glass inside it...

how?

my inverter took a dump and popped one of my cathodes, there was pieces all inside the plastic tube.

one of my cathodes broke while i was taking it out of my case, cuz had to bend it a little :(

wouldnt try it. friend of mine tried it and it worked perfectly but when he pluged it in and turned it on the tube blew. it was a brand new tube. wouldnt try it. why do u want to bend it in the first place? just fit the tube in a spot where it cant be seen but the light glows.

why? well one i wanted to know out of curiosity, and two there is modding potential.. for instance with the clear plexi cases where you can see all cathodes anyway, It might look cooler if you could have cathodes in different shapes instead the standard straight tube..

I am pretty sure it can be done, since glass is easily bent using a torch or possibly a candle (although the candle might make it black). Be prepared to break a few while doing it though hehe :)
