Benchmarking Software (IDE vs. AHCI)

Hello,

This is a question about software. I would like some recommendations for benchmarking software that will combine results for before/after. The hard disk drive is all I need but I wouldn't mind doing other items. Can anyone recommend software that will save benchmarks for later combining with others? I have someone who uses their 6-series gaming board in IDE mode and it must be said.

I have heard of AS SSD, ATTO, CrystalDiskMark, Disk Bench, HD Speed, HD Tach, HD Tune, IOMeter, PassMark, SiSoftware and others. Does anyone have experience with comparing results?

Thanks,

Silekonn

AS SSD & CrystalDiskMark are two that I use with confidence for both hard drive and ssd. They use 'compressible data' which gives accurate, real world results on SSD's. Another good one is Anvil's Storage Utilities, but you have to enable 100% compression first, in order to get realistic results.

ATTO benchmark seems OK for hard drive, but for SSD's the results are absolutely unrealistic and are the ones used in marketing, if that tells you anything.

bigdogchris,

That is helpful in verifying the true greats. A combination of the results would be a find but it is beginning to appear as though everyone uses Excel. SiSoft appears to have some functionality for comparison but the software has a complicated interface (you cannot click a new drive without starting the test).

Does anyone know how the big guys do theirs?
