I just want to check here to see if my benchmark scores are about right for my new system

Old system
=========

AMD Athlon 2000+ palamino
ASUS A7v8x
Sapphire Radeon 9800pro
1gb DDR400 ram
Windows XP Pro with Service Pack 1a
Catalyst drivers 4.09


New system
=========

AMD Athlon 64bit 3500 Winchester
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum
1gb DDR400 ram (running in single channel)

looks fine by me. you kept the same RAM and the OS was updated as well as video driver and that was it right?

IMO, benchmarks let you know details that you can't really notice if its just a couple of points. Your jump is almost 10k diff, im sure there is a huge difference there. what matters more is if you can game at a higher resolution and the overall game play and quality is better and smoother
 
I'm not sure where you got the almost 10k score increase but yes I updated my catalyst drivers and windows service pack.

Why are the scores for 3Dmark 2005 almost the same from the old pc to the new one?
 
3dmark 05 is mostly video card stressing, cpu doesn't really do much, in 01 it does, thats why you notice a bigger difference(7k i believe)
 
Dude your Aquamark scores are weak.

My computer

A64 2800+(1.98 ghz) Radeon 9600XT

Cpu:8,000
Vid Card: 4,500

My friend has a the same proc, on a soltek w/ a 6600gt and he gets 9,000 for his CPU score.

3DMark 01: 16441
3DMark 03: 6351
3DMark 05: 2798

I have no idea if my numbers are any good, but your 05 number looks low compared to my system in the sig...

EDIT: This is my Aquamark score that I haven't re-tried in about 6 months -
41,238 (CPU: 7111, GFX: 5808)
 
My uncle who has this pc..

AMD Athlon 3000+ Winchester
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum
1gb PC400 ram
Radeon 9600XT 256mb

got this aquamark score...

gfx = 4012
cpu = 8383
total = 32388

his cpu score is higher than mine....
 
any ideas why my uncles 3000+ gets a better score in aquamark than my 3500?
