Belkin UPS's

Never used that model, but I've had one Belkin UPS and I wasn't happy with it so I returned it.

I only use APC ups's from now on..

i have the belkin you linked to (payed like 100 dollars american) , it is great.. it last for like 30 minutes with a 21" CRT monitor.

got two of them actually.

I have this UPS. What's not to like about it? Mine's lasted about 3 years so far and I just recently replaced the 2 batteries in it (which was not easy but doable). It's still working perfectly.

The AVR is great in the summer here when we have lots of brown outs. It just pulls more current from the wall to make up for the lower voltage instead of switching to battery backup.

I did a test of its battery backup time once... It powered my overclocked system and 19" Sony Trinitron for 15 minutes before I got bored and switched it back.

The USB connector for monitoring is nice (instead of serial), and so is the RJ11/RJ45 surge protection capability that I use for my DSL connection.

The ONLY reason I could see buying an APC BackUPS over this would be ease of battery replacement, but otherwise I like this model better than the equivalent APC.

To the guy who didn't like it, why didn't you like it?

Well they've got them here in new zealand for hugely inflated prices. Its costing me $600 US to have my computer shipped to me, and I have to buy a monitor because its equally heavy and expensive to ship.

Anyway, how about the IBM ones? How would the IBM's compare to the Belkin and does IBM even make them or do they outsource to someone like APC or Belkin?

I've never seen an IBM UPS for sale, so I can't comment. I wouldn't think they're very common though except perhaps for corporate users.
