Sorry guys didn't know where else to post but thought you might have a handle on this...

I'm looking for some behind the desk lighting.

I would like it to emit a colorful glow like this:

But I would like it to look more like this in terms of shape and brightness:

And if anyone can help, I think the kind of light that does it is clearly shown here (though this one is too "blue" and "cold" looking whereas I am looking for "warm" and "cozy"). :)

Can anyone help?

Does anyone know what they're called or where I can find them?

You appear to be looking for lava lamps. I think there may be some reviews around here somewhere.

It's probably the same light source in both photos. The color temperature in the two photos don't match.

So it's not like I can buy the lights anywhere?

Could someone link me?

I did but I can't find much. All that I am seeing is some lights that go behind your monitor.

Thanks so much for the links. Never woulda found them without you.

But the light in the second and third image seem to be a SINGLE light. Do you know where I could find something like that???

the second & third pics look like they have small usb powered LED spot lights. those will appear "cold". the first pic may be the Antec Halo 6 Bias Lighting strip.

Thanks all! I really appreciate the help!

Do they each plug into a separate wall outlet?

@Empty_Quarter: Can you post any pics?

That's beautiful! Simple and gorgeous!

How do they work? Do they stick to the wall or do you place them on your desk?

They are screwed directly onto the desk. You could simply put it on your desk, but they are light, and can easily be moved. I guess something like velcro could work.

Thanks. Where exactly did you put yours?

Screwed onto the TOP of your desk or behind it? Where are the others screwed?

Thanks Empty!

As mentioned, there are 5 lights in total. 3 are screwed onto the top of the shelf behind the two speakers and monitor facing up, and the other two are screwed to the bottom of the shelf facing down.

The switches (3 total, 1 for the 3 lights on top, and 1 each for the ones facing the bottom) are stuck to the top of the table by double adhesive tapes. You can see one of the switches peeking out from behind the keyboard. The other two are packed together towards the left even more (not in pic).

@cheese: Those are nice! Haha. Not quite what I'm looking for but absolutely stunning!

I'm looking for more mood lighting like what empty has. :) Those seem to be the winners here. I'm trying to find something that's like them just so I have some type of selection but I still can't. Anyone have any suggestions? AND I can't find those one's in black - only white and nickel. Where did you get them in red...? Maybe they have black?

What kind of bulbs to the Grundtal spotlights use? Wondering if they can be changed from white to blue or something.

The grundtal was bought a few years ago, so some colors may be discontinued.

The grundtal uses their Halogen G4 bulb which also seems discontinued on their website, but... I know they do sell light bulbs that could be used at the store itself. AFAIK, its just one color unless you are willing to source the bulbs from elsewhere.

Not sold in the IKEA site I visited (CAN), but here it is, or it's specs... http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/50085407/
