Just picked one up yesterday at CompUSA for $200 (300, 70 instant rebate and 30 mail-in) and I'm loving it. I actually got damn lucky, because CompUSA had been sold out since that deal began and I happened to be there at the right time.....I guess they found one hiding somewhere out back. Anyways, it's a big upgrade from my Sapphire 9500 Pro, which I will be putting up for sale today. Ran Call of Duty last night with 6x AA and 16x AF and it was a blast.

w00t, same here. And i also had 90bucks in gifft cards to compusa so it was Major cheap for me :D

nice, now go get a Artic Cooling VGA Silencer from coolerguys for $20 shipped :) Mine will be here tomorrow, can't wait

Are those things easy to install? How much overclocking will it allow me to do?

I picked up two of these from comp usa also...and am going to order two vga silencers from xoxide.com since they're on sale at $14 per there, think it came to like 32 after shipping, I forget. As for overclocking, I think that somewhat depends on the luck of the draw. I don't plan on oc'ing mine at all, but I want to make sure it won't overheat when leaving games open for hours.

i'm really bad with tools, so if I can install it anyone can. I'll let you know tomorrow how that goes :) As for OCing, i've read so many positive reviews on great OC speeds at good temp's that I just had to get one

yeah that sapphire there is a 9500np

L shaped memory = 256bit memory not 128

Ummmm....it's a 9500 Pro

My pc reads it as a 9500 Pro, the site I bought it from said 9500 Pro:rolleyes:

are those the coolermaster rifle bearing fans i see? =b

i have 5 running in my case, god i love these things. =D for the amount of air they push and the low noise factor it was well worth the purchase...and the glow they put off is nice, not too bright but not dim either, just enough to make a difference.

anyway, back on topic...gratz on the new 9800 man, im planning on getting one sometime soon, i just gotta wait on that stupid check to show up from Uncle Sam...=/ till then i too am stuck with a 9500Pro...course mines running at 375/315...dont expect that 9800 to stay at stock very long in my box tho :D;)

If you know how to turn a screwdriver and plug in a toaster, you can install a video card.......or just about any other computer component for that matter. About the only thing that you need to remember is not to be standing on carpeting while working with parts that are sensitive to static electricity. I personally have never messed around with OC'ing a video card, but I have OC'ed my processor. Look through this forum and I am sure you will find a thread that discusses OC'ing your video card.

just got mine. I was really nervous about installing it because i'm bad at these type of things and my hands tend to shake a lot. It wasn't TOO hard to do, but it did involved heating up the heatsink with a blow dryer, putting a little too much paste on, and spending 10 minutes to figure out how to best line up the heatsink and GPU before figuring out it wasn't really that hard.

overall experience, not as bad as installing my first HSF, which took me 30 minutes cuz I kept feeling like i was pushing too hard, but not quite as easy as turning a screwdriver or plugging in a toaster :)

I was under the impression that someone was asking about installing a new video card when I said trurning a screwdriver or plugging in a toaster.......not the VGA Silencer........if you're going to quote me, please don't take what I say out of context.

You said that you were using a blow dryer to remove the stock HSF. Placing your card in an antistatic bag, and placing it in the freezer for ten to fifteen minutes would have worked a lot easier. This is comparable in a way to removing a city sticker from your windshield, it is easier in the winter than it is in the summer because the glue used holds better under hotter conditions. Thermal Adhesive acts very much the same way.
