basic fan wiring 101?

i need help once again, i want to replace the 4 fans in my lian li and add a new heatsink fan. My problem that i have is my fan controler (lost in space) uses those small 3 pin connectors, which is fine for my 3 led case fans, but i want to add a high speed panaflo for my xp-90c and maybe add in one vantec tornado or something. Now those two fans use molex i beleive for power and have a seperate 3 pin connector for rpm monitoring, but i still want to be able to control the speed mith my lcd controller, what can i do, im not so sure that i can power and control a vantec tornado or a panaflo off my controller.
 
Yes, you can.

Get the new fan with the molex attached.

Cut off the excess wiring so you simply have a fan with a red wire and a black wire.

Strip the ends.

Get your old fans, and cut off the wiring so you have the 3-pin molex and some wire to work with.

Cut off the yellow wire.

Red to red.

Black to black.

Plugin.

Profit.
 
thanks guys very much, huge help, so now i can hook up my lcd to a spare molex on the psu and it should be ready to go. I checked the specs of the lcd and it says each channel of the fan control should not exceed 10watts or .83Amps so i should be able to hook that tornado up to a single channel and be safe i guess. So here was my ideas for fans in my case. two 80mm 34cfm blue led fans sucking in the front, one 80mm 34cfm led fan sucking out air at the blow hole,one 92mm 56 cfm panaflo blowing on the xp-90c, one 80mm vantec tornado at back sucking air out,

Good idea or bad??????

Another quick question,on new mobos,is there molex power out on the mobos,if so,it would be a bad idea to hook my lcd up there wouldnt it.
 
No motherboards have a "molex out" on them. The traces on the motherboard simply aren't big enough to handle the wattage of some dumb-ass trying to hookup a hard drive to it. Not to mention all the noise it would cause.
 
yeah i kinda figured that about the mobo but just checking, but does my fan set-up seem ok?
