Hey, I think this is a pretty good overclock http://www.homeownerbuilder.com/fsboc.gif , however, I want more!

what else can I do?

Here are my system specs

ram is kingston hyperx pc3500. 2.5-3-3-7
cpu is 2500+ @2480 (11*225)
motherboard MSI nForce2 ultra400

I think my board might be limiting me on this overclock as it does not allow anything higher on the vcore than 1.8 and on the vdimm(?)2.7

My temps aren't bad for an amd chip, 44c idle/55c load. I've thought this could be holding me back some too. yes/no?

I'm considering selling my board and getting a DFI LPb board.

I would like to go beyone 2500mhz, but I fear I may need to do water cooling for that.

comments/suggestions..etc.. what else can I do besides go with water to achieve higher oc's?

I would have to agree. Just remember the Infinity nFII is exactly the same but without all the flashy bling bling and 50+ price tag. (Also has gigabit lan & "lanparty" accessories)

That's a VERY nice OC for that board though :)

not bad. right now im 11x200 at default voltage, but id like more. i had a whole thread of drama trying to unsuccesfully unlock it, so I guess I gotta get some more RAM...

after posting this, I decided to do some tests to see what was holding me back.

I took my computer and put it out side my kitchen door where the temps outside are 25F.

I ran the monitor, keyboard and mouse into the kitchen bar through the sliding glass door.

I then proceded to run my system at 225*11. Temps stayed around 30-35c while running prime95.

I then cranked the fsb up to 230*11.
Booted into windows but would not run prime95.
I did not try any fsb higher than this nor did I try any multiplier higher than 11.

My conclusion is this:

right now I'm able to run 220*11 stable, but can not go any
higher than this with either multiplier or fsb unless I have better cooling. I can not run the fsb higher than 225 unless I want to push the vdimm higher than 2.7.

The vcore on my motherboard only goes to 1.8.
The only options for me if I want a higher overclock is;
1.) water cooling
2.) motherboard that is geared towards overclocking.

so, it's back to the chopping block. I'm going to sell this motherboard and get either an abit nf7-s or a dfi lan partyb nforce2.

I'm then going to go with water cooling.

I have to say, it was nice seeing those temps at 30ish c while running prime95 ;) Makes me want to go with a promethia, but cash is always the factor.

my barton chip is 0331 or week 31 year 2003. It's unlocked. I can adjust the multiplier up to I believe 13 on this board. I got lucky I guess, because after I purchased mine, 2 weeks later, they started locking them.

But like I stated above, I'm not even messing with the multiplier, just fsb. So, yes, good ram will definately help.

I had some geil pc3200, but it wouldn't go past 200fsb and the settings at 200fsb were 2.5 4-4-8. The kingson ram I have now freaking rocks! It was only 145$ from newegg.com and shipped in 2 days. w00t!
