Noobish question... I don't know how 'banding' is defined but i might be experiencing it... Is it say when you see ghosting of lines across the screen and those ghostings travel along when you move a window around???!

What would cause this? Improper cooling?, unremoved stuff from moving the system from ati> nvidia? Btw that system is now using a geforce256 with the new drivers:p
 
Well i guess banding is not what i have going on... I just found that out by looking at the definition of what banding is... Allthough the window ghosting is wierd.... what can i do to solve this?
The problem looks kinda like the horizontal hold is screwy...
 
You need to enable V-sinc or Vertical Sinc in your display properties in the Advanced tab. I think what you mean is the tearing in the middle of the screen. Enable v-sinc to get rid of it.
 
True "ghosting" is when faint echoes of lines appear to the side of shapes on a CRT. For example, a vertical solid black line on a white background would have a dim line parallel to it. If you moved the line, the ghost line would move with it. This is usually caused by having a cheap cable between the computer and the monitor.
 
I give up. Think it's the card itself, i mean... it IS old... and i got it third hand from my sister who got it from a freind of hers... Here are some other problems with the card, when i go to switch resoulutions it would display fine for a few seconds and then go all blurry garble-dy like how your monitor goes when going to an unsupported resolution... That and the wierd banding effects that ONLY happen on this card, (swapped out card with an even older yet tnt card)... The fan IS going out on this one, so i guess that could be the issue as well :rolleyes:
Other then that the card wouldn't even go to 1024 @ 32bit... (and the tnt card would, even though it has half the memory the gf1 does!) So me thinks either the card is
a) near-dead,
b) Needs a bios update
c) needs fan replacement (not worth it to me since it is so old)
