Hello every one, last summer I bought this cheep raidmax case and used the PSU that was in it, some 420W raidmax. Fastforwarding to current day, the PSU does it job but when it comes to overclocking, I think that the PSU is my main problem. I managed to UP my 2x512 CH5 (corsair XMS pro series) from stock 200mhz to 230mhz @ 2.9v I managed to benchmark it and notice no issues, but after 3 minutes the computer restarts, no errors no nothing, just a restart as if I had pushed the button.
Currently Im running it at 225mhz @ 2.9v without any issues, running a mem test No errors show up.

The other sign which I was told occurs in faulty PSUs, when I press the reset buttons, the system does not reboot. It is as if it restarts the system but never posts. From here I have to turn off the PSU and start every thing back up again.

I cant really see it being any thing else than the PSU.
The AGP/PCI is locked, 225x9 runs just fine with x4HTT
Mem is set to 3-3-3-8.

IF any one has suggestions please let me know :)
 
I'd say it would be no.1 on my list to try. A quality 420W might just (and I mean just) do the job but a cheapo bundled job, I doubt very much. Dont say you are using a DFI board please. :)

Treat yourself to a new 24 pin ATX2.0 PSU of 480W or more and then you are good to go for another few years.

Get yourself a better PSU. You have tried to at least plug in the extra two power inputs?
 
S'ok I'm assuming you have a DFI NF4 board. But with an AGP you dont. Amazing how quick you start to assume all folks are PCI-E

The DFI NF4 has 4 power inputs -

1x 24 pin
1x 4 pin

and further along the board -

1x molex connector
1x floppy connector

As it isnt a NF4 then forget I was ever here. :)

I'd still recommend a better PSU. ;)
