bad performance with riser card?

so my mobo only has one pci-e x16 slot and im in need of 2. 1 for gpu and highpoint raidcard. is there any cons abour using a rise card for my needs? im thinking of one like this:

That's a passive riser card with a flex cable, meaning you need 2 x16 slots next to each other to plug that into and make it a right angle orientation or offset orientation. If you look carefully behind the silver foil, there is a second slot plug. It is not to make 1 card slot into 2 card slots. There are active riser cards to do what you want, but they are for specific applications and will cost many times he cost of a new motherboard with more slots.

Nice, yeah that's exactly what I was thinking. This would be good for a 3U server or other small-form factor system.

Even then, you have to be really careful with the flexible slot extenders, slight movements or vibrations can cause electrical changes and cause havoc. Unless you absolutely cannot use a PCB extender, purchase a quality flexible extender and not a cheap chinese knockoff.
 
For the most part I agree. Power adapters that PROBABLY won't burn my house down are ok. Cheap ipod cables that xfer 5V and 115,000 bytes per second are ok. But for a device which transfers up to 64 billion bytes per second, I think I will stick with quality :)
 
I give up with ALL the cheap chinese knock offs. I bought an HP charger that caught fire, risers that don't work. "15 amp" power cord that caught fire when plugged into a laser printer. Batteries that are worthless. The list goes on. Just bought a "new" "genuine Lenovo" battery from Newegg and with their track record it will probably have been sitting on a shelf for 2 years and not hold a good charge.
