I picked up a used GTX 295 on the cheap($100) and I'm having some performance issues with it. Here is what it's in:
ECS 945GCT-M v2 w/an e2200 @ 2.93ghz
4gb Corsair DDR2
Corsair PSU with a ~50 amp 12v rail
Furmark at 720p (no 1080p for my monitor) is hitting around 45fps, with a score under 4k, and games like Witcher 2 and WOW have massive stuttering.
The really strange thing is that I replaced an 8800gt with this card and for some reason the onboard video is being enabled by bios. It's like it doesn't realize the 295 is a video card, and I had to disable the Intel integrated(which I didn't even know the board had) in device manager to get the 295 working at all. Bios simply does not have the option to switch off onboard video manually, and it eats some system memory no matter what I do.
I think this is the root of the problem since I ran Windows experience out of curiosity and saw my ram score drop to 5.3 from 6.3; either that or I bought a crappy card. I know the rig is quite old, but the card physically won't fit in the box my AM3 setup is in.
Also , the green LED on the 295 comes on but not the blue one; and by the way it is impossible to find documentation for these things online, if anyone could point me to a pdf manual I would be grateful.
