Bad Company 2 Multi-Display Support

Bezels, bezels, bezels. Note the seamless picture used to show off the bezel interfered view? Why? BAH! I'll take one large format display vs 3-6 with bezels.

Eyefinity? 3D Vision Stereo? Both useless. Call me when you can buy 3 - 30" monitors put together without bezels (ok, 24"-26" will work too, but I'd prefer 30 like my LG) otherwise I'll just wait for true higher resolution displays. Won't be that long and I'll be able to get a 4k 50-65" LCD and run similar to my friend's setup: 24" main PC display, 55" LCD for gaming.

You can keep the bezels, I'll take big and beautiful without them.

So.. you added nothing to the entire thread conversation and only complained about the same thing many have before you in previous threads. Since this thread topic is BC2 Mutli-Display Support...not Who Dislikes Multi-Display gaming. Don't take me as flaming, your input would be good for a different thread on the possible Pros/Cons of multi-display gaming.

On topic, I am still waiting on returning from my deployment to try out some gaming on the 3x1 30" setup of 3007WFP-HCs I have recently purchased. (Of course along side a rig upgrade once I find some 5970s in stock...)

I enjoy the prospect of being able to have a couple monitors flanking my primary providing extra FOV, if not only for the possible immersion factor, the extra FOV is what I think will benefit me the most when supported.

I am glad the game is working with Eyefinity "properly" for the most part out of the box. Hopefully future releases work as well or better in the coming year(s).

To get back on topic at Xae points out......I am really excited about playing BC2 this week. Looks like a hoot. I will grab some video video footage of my experience. I am really glad to see real 3x1 landscape support.

I just had a eyegasm LOL. Wished I had the desk space for three LCD's...

just finsihed the game in 6 or 7 hours so wont to try this game in eyefinity omg wow

Seeing FOV improve like this is very encouraging. Can't wait for the other Dev's to catch up.

@ Kyle, I don't know how I missed that video of the .50 BMG but that was awesome. I had to laugh that the "Raptor" survived though, could be decent marketing for WD, lol.

I'm looking forward to a portrait-mode BC2 EF trip-report Kyle, I can tell it will make recon work a lot easier :)

Used to take my 19" CRT up to 1600x1200 in the day just to see more pixels in Operation Flashpoint.

e: Darrell, Nvidia's doing it but you need two cards in SLI, portrait or landscape mode your choice
e2: the one GTX480 box art that was seen as Cebit 2010 states two DVI and one HDMI. Which makes it more of a mystery. Unless it's because of 120hz 3D which can only be had by these dual link DVI ports and they've stuck it like that on purpose? Can't DisplayPort handle 120hz? Too late but oh well

Do you have to turn your monitor on its side to make this work? or can you have all 3 monitors laying the normal way?

Also, any word on nvidia doing this with older video cards like the 280's? or would I have to buy new stuff?

I think this looks cool and would love to try it.

NVIDIA has said it will support multi-display gaming on GTX 200 series GPUs, but you will NEED and SLI rig with at least 3 DVI out to do it. Old NV nor upcoming NV GPUs support 3 displays off a single GPU. So we will see "single card" support NV Surround but they will HAVE to be multi-GPU cards.

And yes, you can turn the monitors how you want.

Sweet. I currently have 2 8800gtx's and a friend is selling 3 280's. I guess I'll have to buy 2-3 cards off him then and 2 more 24 inch monitors

Once again, the concept of eyefinity is a great concept. It is simply technology ahead of its time and not ready for mainstream yet. Until they start producing bezel less monitors that are affordable and or super wide aspect monitors, it remains basically something that only a few can convince themselves it isn't as bad as it really is.

Lulz.

I liked that term the other guy used about jealous thread crappers. This quote is Eyefinity envy gold.

EDIT: Holy crap at Kyle's gun. Is that the one from MW2 that you can kill juggies with?

wow this seriously makes me want to go for a eyefinity setup. 24" can be had for cheap (if you don't mind TN). I remember I used to pay upwards of $800 for my first 24" monitor. Now i can have 2 24" for less, crazy. The main stumbling block is desk space. :(

Thought crossed my mind as well. But you guys KNOW we are not about mainstream gaming.

On the gun, you can check it out here at the Mfg site. It is one of the easiest shooting and most accurate 50s out there. Then again it weighs 36 pounds without ammo. It was made for sport shooting, not humping through the hills in the Middle East. The longest I have shot it is 420 yards, or 1/4 mile....and it is not hard to hit what you are shooting at. And I have cheapy optic on it.

He probably cant try it because it costs a fortune.

That really depends on what you already have. I've been running dual monitors since the 9700 Pro days, and I sure as hell would never go back to a single monitor. Thus, for me Eyefinity was the cost of a single additional monitor. For a decent 22" TN, that would be like $180, certainly not a fortune.

Again you post whining about bezels thinking it will make a difference. Let the market and early adopters determine that. If there is a market for it, the demand and money will force it to evolve to where you expect it to be. If there isn't a market, then it will become a niche market or die out entirely. But the fact is, the companies have to start somewhere. The PR reps and Engineers have to eventually get it to the market in some form, or else the product stays in perpetual beta waiting to be perfected with zero real world exposure. Be happy they are innovating. Eventually the tech will get there.

Get over yourself now, there is nothing wrong about calling multi display setups "enthusiast" and single monitor gaming "normal". Feeling enthusiastic about gaming has nothing to do with gear luckily, so watch the video and remain enthusiastic :D

It's more then wrong calling single "normal" and multi "enthusiast" , considering the only achievement involved in the creation of an Eyefinity setup is the use of the proper video card(s) and more displays. Creating a niche market out of it by calling it enthusiast is a complete joke in itself. It's like saying your not an enthusiast if you don't have a 30" monitor or don't game with a 5000+ DPI tracking laser mouse.

Get over myself? GET OVER YOURSELF!!! But hey! If that's what you need to feel important.....

Seriously, you need to replace your regular brand of tampons with a more absorbent one.

Calling a single monitor setup "normal" and a multi monitor setup "enthusiast" is just using words to explain a relative difference between the two. Was it a poor choice of words? Maybe, but so what. This is [H]ardForum.com, not politicallycorrectpussies.com. In no way does that mean your not an enthusiast because you don't have 3 monitors. FFS don't read so much into things. Sit back, relax, and drink a beer.

BTW, my statement about your choice of tampons was a joke. So don't read too much into that one.;)

This is clearly a conspiracy by ATI and DICE to make me buy a 5870 and two more monitors.

I might have been able to resist Eyefinity on it's own, but this tag team is too much for me.

I love my eyefinity setup even though its been a lot of extra work. Lots of games seem to have issues with it, its awesome to get a game that supports it from release! No waiting for patches :D

Yes, I think I've even heard of SoftTH working but I can 100% confirm Eyefinity and TripleHead2Go.

Very Nice!!! I hope other game developers take notice. DICE has done a great job supporting the PC game platform.
