Backlight Questions--Is This Normal?

Ok, so I have Dead Pixel Buddy and only when it is completely dark outside did I see some backlight bleed through. An almost uniform amount on both sides of less than an inch wide was faintly showing. Is this normal and to be expected? Also, I noticed just off center, about 60% down I noticied some fainter light. Even now, with the shades drawn and facing South, I can't see it. Only when it is completely dark.

I have looked at the picture of the Dell with severe backlight and it does not look like that by any means. My questions are is it is normal to have some backlight bleed along the sides and if it is normal to not have a perfectly uniform lack of backlight anywhere else.

Again, I can only see this when it is dark outside and no ambient light is on in the house. Using DPB right now at a liitle after 8:30 AM, sunny and the shades closed I can't see it.

Thanks in advance!

It's normal. It's just the nature of LCD's. If you can only notice it on a completely black background then don't worry about it. If it's strong enough to appear in everyday use and is obvious and annoying - then worry about it.

How does it look viewing these forums? You could probably also adjust the backlight with the brightness settings, maybe turn it down a little and it'll go away completely.

Thanks Badger, I am just nervous having plunked down close to $700 cash for this thing. Other reports I have read say they have perfectly even backlight. Well I guess I do too in even a dimly lit room. Don't notice it all here. Still...

I may exchange it as I do have two stuck or dead pixles on the far right side a couple of inches above the clock. Not sure what the difference is between stuck and dead as they are both such tiny specks.

i know ;) they're things you would never notice if you didn't read about them
