Awesome MultiMonitor Action!

Hey, I'm using my and my roomates monitor. I have an ATI 9800 Pro. As of now his monitor is an extension of my own, meaning i can move dialog boxes over to his monitor. Is there anyway where I can have 2 desktops? One for him, one for mine. Then instead of moving windows over I can switch to his monitor, change the background, etc. It'll probably even have it's own taskbar too. How do I do this? I have ATI Hydravision and I'm not sure what to enable to have this multimonitor support. Like if I move the AquaMark icon over to the other monitor it'll run Aquamark on my main monitor. I want the 2 monitors to be inpendent

Try to clarify what you want to do. It sounds like you want to have 2 users on seperate monitors on one cpu. There is one cube pc that can do that and those computers the made for africa or something that support 4 users but i dont think you can do that on any computer without some extra hardware. But i think i may be misunderstanding what you want to do so try to clarify a little.

Sorry, I should have put more effort into my original post. Forget everything I said. I have 2 monitors set up but as of now the second monitor is just an extention of the original. So I can drag things like Winamp and MSN over to the over side (other monitor). Imagine: I drap and drop the AquaMark shortcut onto the other monitor right? I click on the shortcut, but instead of running Aquamark in the 2nd monitor (where the shortcut is on) it'll run it in the primary monitor. I don't want to do that, I want each monitor to be independent. I've seen people do this and I'm curious as to how. I hope that helps clarify.

There are four different dual-display modes:

1. Dual-View: Both monitors receive different signals. Both their resolution and their refresh rate can be selected independently for each screen.
2. Clone-View: The second display shows the same content as the first one.
3. Horizontal Span: The two monitors are treated as a single display, with the desktop being stretched across both. In effect, the horizontal resolution is doubled. The refresh rate is identical for both displays. This is the mode that is most commonly supported by games.
4. Vertical Span: Similar to horizontal span, except that the desktop is stretched vertically instead.

Now, I am currently using Dual-View, but for some reason I can't run fullscreen programs (like aquamark) on just the second monitor, they always run on the first. How can I make full screen programs run on the second one?!

well, you could buy another computer!

no but really, try right clicking the window and see if theres an option to move it to your second monitor. I know with my nvidia card, I can select and window and there is an option to move it to a different monitor. If that fails, call up ATi and be like "wtf mayte^^"

lol! Alright, thanks for the help. I've read that nVidia has better dual monitor support, so that's probably why I can't do that with me ATi.

to do this you have to set the second monitor has the primary monitor under windows xp

I believe ATI doesn't support the "Dual-View" options where you ahve seperate desktops. You need a Nvidia card for that options.
