Average Dead Pixles?

What is the average amount of dead pixels one should find on their 17" LCD? Just for reference, i'm using a Dell E173fp.
 
I have three NEC 17" LCDs, and I've been through two laptops. I've never had a single dead pixel...
 
ive been using LCD laptops since before i can remember, and my dad uses a 17" LCD that ive had extensive use with..never seen a dead pixel in my life.
 
Man, my first 2 LCD monitors, which are 2001FP, have a total of ~12 dead pixels. I'm so disappointed. :(

Btw, one of the monitors has 2 dead pixel. How likely will Dell take it back and give me a better 2001FP?
 
Does anyone know Dell's return policy on dead pixels? I have counted at least 5 dead pixels. I just got my lcd friday the 22nd. If dell will take it back, does anyone know if they will send me a new monitor first and then i send them the defective monitor? Thanks for any input.

7) SAMSUNG SyncMaster 213T: 1 Dead / 1 Stuck :( - Returned
8) SAMSUNG SyncMaster 234T: 0 Dead / 0 Stuck :) - New one

well lemme put it this way. it is possible that there is one or two somewhere, but ive never seen one. so if it were there, but didnt create a problem or ever have its existence realized, would it really be an issue? i think not :p
 
The bigger the monitor the better chance of having a dead pixel. On my 15" LCD, no dead pixels, On my 17" no dead pixels, on all three of the laptops that I have owned no dead pixels, and on the 20.1" I just got in there is only 1 dead pixel. And on the 20.1 I cant even find it half the time and I know where to look.
 
Alright, i just made a call today requesting a replacement lcd. I was told that the time range for delivery takes 14 days. Does anyone know if i will actually get it sooner and they just tell you that as standard protocol? Also, i tried asking the guy a question but he didn't have a good response and it was hard to distinguish his accent. But, i live in a college dorm, as i am sure many people on here live in one as well, and i was told that when you recieve the new monitor the delivery guy is supposed to take the defective monitor. The problem is, there is a front desk in the dorm that deals with all the mail and packages. I highly doubt that the front desk will call me when the delivery guy comes, and even then who is to say that i won't be in class. I can't tell the front desk to make sure they call me because (1) i don't know when its supposed to be delivered and (2) the front desk workers change every 3 or 4 hours. Does anyone know if the delivery guy can only leave the new monitor when they recieve the defective one? And if they can leave it, will i have to ship the defective monitor back to dell myself? Hopefully someone has encountered a problem similar to mine while living in the dorms. Thank you for all responses!
