audio card?

right now i have a intel board with this built in:

SoundMAX 4 XL with AudioESP audio subsystem using the Analog Devices AD1985 codec

i was thinking of upgrading maybe to a non on board card. should i? any sugestions on a fairly cheap maybe card?
sb live?

if not, what exactly are the capabilities of my sound now? eax?

What do you do with your computer that involves sound? mp3s? Games? DVDs? All of the above?

What you are using it for affects what options are best for you. In most cases the onboard sound is fine and you don't need more than that. If you want to know all about the system you can go here:

i need it for games and music. i guess its good enough as it does all the advanced stuff like eax.
i have a 3.0 p4 so it should be fast enough to where i should not have performance problems.

You can get an SBLive 5.1 for around $30, An Audigy LS for around $50, and a Fortissimo III for around $45. I have all three, and they are all nice cards.
