Recently downloaded Doom 3 1.3 patch cause I hadn't played it in a while and they added some EAX 4.0 sound stuff that I wanted to check out and the readme on the patch says to download the beta drivers dated for april/05 or there will be issues. Well, they weren't kidding.

I had no trouble finding the beta drivers but the problem is after they uncompress and look like their getting ready to install the new drivers it says it can't find compatible hardware.

I tried installing over the old drivers as well as removing them and running drivercleaner. Re-installed old drivers with no prob and updated on creeative site where it recognized my card immediately.

I would really like to try these out and experience D3 with the new sound stuff.

Anybody know about this and know what to do??

Sorry I can't provide specifics because I don't remember them, but yeah, for me it wasn't as straight-forward to get it working right as it should be. I ran into the same, or a similar problem. I seem to recall that contrary to what the Creative site said, i had to use older driver versions rathet than the ones listed as the newest and all inclusive.

Like all bad Creative experiences, I've purged the memory, so I can enjoy it once again during my next re-install. :)
